A QUICK HISTORY !

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING?

We have been looking at different views from

different age groups on the Wedding of Kate

Middleton and Prince William.

We have done various interviews from an old age

home, and students and staff from our school.

THE ELDERLY

JCOSS MEETS BET TY

We visited Hadley Lawns old people’s home and this is what we discovered.

Our first interview was very exciting because we interviewed a lady called

‘Betty,’ who is 90 years old. As she was partially blind so she was unable

to see how pretty Kate was, but she believed that Prince William getting

married is a good thing and he will be a good King. Then as she was talking

the exciting part came when she let slip that she was originally in the same

Auxiliary Territorial Service as Queen, Elizabeth in the Second World War!

We couldn’t believe our luck – what a story! After that she said, “I am sure

that Kate Middleton and Prince William are right for each other,” but she

also said that she isn't hugely excited about the big day.

MAGGIE AND ANDREW

We then interviewed Maggie who is 79 years old. She said, “ I am pleased that

William and Kate are getting married, but I do think that Kate may require

some training to follow in the current Queen’s footsteps”. She thought that the

couple are perfect for each other and will have a long lasting relationship.

Then we interviewed 82 year old, Andrew. Andrew has no objections towards

Kate or the Royal Wedding and said, “There is no reason why she can’t follow in

the Queen’s footsteps”. He is also hopeful that they are right for each other and

that they will have a long lasting relationship. He doesn’t think that Harry does

want to be King and that he isn’t jealous of his brother at all.

THE ADULTS

MADAME FRENCH

Then we interviewed some adults, to get their point of view on

the wedding.

First we interviewed our teacher, Miss Kemp. She thought that

it will be a fantastic celebration day and is glad that Prince

William and Kate are getting married. She also said,“Kate will

have the same calmness as the current Queen but Kate will be

more modern”. She believes that they are perfect for each other,

as they have been together for a long time. She is also very

excited to get a day off work!

THE HEADMASTER’S PA

We then interviewed the PA to the headmaster of

our school (Mrs Buckwell), she believed that it was

super that Prince William and Kate are getting

married and she is very pleased for them. She said

that Kate will strive in the same footsteps as Queen

Elizabeth, but she won’t be Queen. Prince Harry, in

her opinion, probably doesn’t mind that he won’t be

King and is happy for his brother.

MITMAN’S MIND

Our third interview for the middle-age group is our P.E

teacher, Mr Mitman. He said,“ It will be difficult for Kate to

follow in the same footsteps as the current queen Elizabeth”. He

hopes that William and Kate will have a long lasting

relationship. He is not very exited about the wedding yet, but he

thinks nearer the time he will. He feels that Prince Harry

wanted to be King because if you have a chance, everyone

wants to be King. He commented, “Prince Harry is a bit jealous

of his big brother”.

THE SCHOOL CHILDREN

WHAT THE YOUTH THINK?

Next we moved onto the younger generation and we asked questions about

the wedding to some pupils in our school. Amy said, “They are a really good

couple, because they are both really nice people, also we get to miss a whole

day off school on the day of the wedding”. She said, “Kate will follow in her

footsteps and that she will be a good Queen, like Elizabeth, because Kate is

a lovely, kind person and she seems like she will be a marvellous Queen for

the next generations”. She is excited because lots of people from other

countries and other parts of the UK are coming to London just for the

wedding. She also thinks that William is slightly jealous of his brother,

because he has lots of power but not the responsibility of being King.

THE YOUNGER GENERATION’S V IEWS

Daniel said, “I feel happy for the couple and they are well known so

there will be lots of paparazzi”. He said that Kate won’t follow in Queen

Elizabeth’s footsteps because she’s young and is from a more modern

generation”. He continues, “They are a good couple, and if they didn’t

love each other they wouldn’t be in a relationship and it is exciting

because we get to miss a day of school!”. He thinks that Prince Harry

wants to be King and he believes that this is an example of sibling rivalry,

and this will cause large corruption in the royal family. He also said that

Prince Harry probably isn’t jealous because Harry already has a

girlfriend, but he is probably not ready, or does not want to get married.

THE SCHOOL KIDS

Leo from JCoSS said, “ I think that the Prince and Kate are good for

each other and I have nothing against it.” He doesn’t think that she’ll be

like the Queen because she is much younger and is more of a digital-

native and knows more about life today. “In my opinion, they will probably

last for long and they love each other a lot, however, will try and have to

keep the paparazzi happy.” He is also very excited about the day off

school and also loves people getting married! “I sadly think that William

and Harry may form a rivalry because Harry might want the throne, but I

do not think he’ll be jealous of his brother because he is happy not being

married and he’s still young.”
