CSR INITIATIVES
OSK EPIC Build Annual Project
3
OSK EPIC Build project is a continuous effort from the past experiences in 2017 and 2018 in providing homes for the
underprivileged Malaysian communities, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia. In the spirit of unity, OSK and the EPIC Homes team
accomplished a 3-day home building programme for an Orang Asli family at Kampung Serigala, Hulu Selangor in conjunction with
the 62nd National Day in 2019. About 25 volunteers from OSK participated in this CSR project to provide Petarick and his family of
four a brand-new home.
The EPIC Build 3.0 was a meaningful programme for all OSKians and the Orang Asli community as it was completed on our
National Day. Participants were given the opportunity to uphold the spirit of unity throughout the 3-day journey and managed to
sustain great teamwork and enthusiasm to complete the build within the time period.
A 4-module home structure was built comprising of a living room, foyer, kitchen and two bedrooms which provided a conducive
living environment for the entire household, a far cry from Petarick's previous home. With this effort, the team hope to provide
comfort, safety and improved quality of life for Petarick and his family.
Liter of Light
4
Liter of Light is a global, grassroots movement that uses inexpensive, readily available materials to provide high quality
solar lighting to people with limited or no access to electricity. OSK staff witnessed a life-changing experience where they
were taught to build a solar-powered light from scratch made out of a plastic bottle, a simple circuit, micro-solar panel,
LED bulb and a battery, guided and accompanied by few professional engineers from The Incitement team.
Apart from that, the volunteers played their role as educators where they shared the knowledge and mechanisms of the
solar lights to enable the villagers to be self-sufficient in repairing and maintaining the lights. Despite the unfavourable
weather, the team also managed to sustain their strong teamwork spirit and enthusiasm to complete the 60 solar-
powered lights installation and waited till it gets dark to see how the solar lights lit up around the village.
The joy from the Orang Asli families once the lights lit up were overwhelming as they are now able to do more outdoor
activities during the dark, the children are able to play outside more often and families can gather outdoors for a good
quality time together with rest of the villagers instead of worrying about their safety. We are glad to be a part of this
movement and how our humble contribution has made a drift in the lives of the villagers.
Paint for Future Leaders
5
70 volunteers transformed two deserted blocks into a bright and lively kindergarten with mural designs at SJKT Ladang
Shanghai in Seremban. Funded by OSK Foundation in collaboration with KCC Paint Malaysia and Artzland Studio,
volunteers from OSK Property and OSK Construction, along with teachers and students of the school painted the entire
mural in one day.
This initiative was an effort in building the community of Mambau, which is within the neighbourhood of Iringan Bayu; OSK
Property’s township in Seremban. The volunteers successfully transformed a 2,024 sq. ft block of four classrooms into a
beautiful kindergarten equipped with new electrical appliances and fixtures to ensure a conducive environment for the
students and teachers.
Colour brings joy and fun – We hope that this humble effort in creating a lively kindergarten will enrich the younger minds,
bringing passion in their study. Above all, we hope that this wonderful space brings happiness, wonder and the dream of
unending possibilities for the children.
The Lunch Box Project
6
OSK Property, OSK Construction, OSK Foundation and Iringan Bayu joined hands with SJK (C) Kampung Baru Mambau,
Seremban to support the state council's new dietary requirement through The Lunch Box Project. This project was
carried out for a period of one-month through a crowdfunding activity within the organisation where OSK staff donated a
minimum of RM10 to provide the students with a lunch box and cutlery set each.
During the distribution of the lunch boxes held at the school recently which was witnessed by the school committee board
members, teachers and students, all 700 students of SJK (C) Kampung Baru Mambau received their lunch boxes and
cutlery sets for them to enjoy a healthy meal based on Healthy School Canteen Management Guide. The guide which
was enforced by the Education Ministry limits the access and availability of unhealthy food and drinks to school children.
Through this initiative, students can now enjoy a healthy and balanced diet in school with a menu that includes cereals,
whole grains, vegetables, meat and fruits. With a healthy eating plan, students will be able to stay active and energetic
throughout the day, helping them to focus better on their education.

7
