• Open Google Earth and find the Isle of Man.• Turn of all layers in Places. • Click on the centre of island and go to Add -

Overlay. • Browse to their saved image and open it.• Use the resize tools to match the shape of their

Pirate Island to the Isle of Man. • Use the transparency tools to help fit into the Isle

of Man.

Pirate Island 2

• Add place marks to describe the Island, create a fact file and set a challenge.

• Go to add - placemark. A dialog box opens.• Add a title and in the large box add text….. • Before you press OK move the placemark a

place on the map.• Change the Icon if you wish to

Pirate Island 3

• Your overlay and your place marks are in your temporary places.

• Go to My Places. Right click and add a folder. Call it Pirate island!

• Drag all place marks and the map overlay to this folder. Save to your user area.Lo

makewaves

• Log in to Makewaves• Make a story. Describe what you have done to

make your Island• Upload your Pirate Island file to Makewaves. It

will be a .kmz or .kml file in your user area.• Ask people to download your file in Google

Earth and solve your challenge….
