BEST WISHES TO JANITOR PAUL!

FAREWELL RECEPTION - SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 10:00-11:00

Rumor has it that May 1 is the official retirement date for our janitor, Paul Broveak. Paul began his work at Trinity on January 1, 2001.

Over these past 16 years, Trinity has been very fortunate to have his attentive care and dedication to the many tasks at hand. All who enter have been greeted by his sparkling floors and his ever-present grin! In addition to the diligent clean-ing of our church building, Paul has also lent his mechanical skills to the never-ending list of repairs.

We are very thankful for his many years of service and friendship. A reception to honor him will be held in-between services on Sunday, April 17, so please plan to come down to the fellowship hall either before or after you worship that Sunday morning and help us give Paul a loving send off as he begins his retire-ment years. We’re sure he will find time to play a little more golf this summer.

There will be a basket for cards/gifts to allow you to express your appreciation for Paul’s 16 years of faithful service to Trinity. If you cannot attend the reception, you can also mail cards/gifts to his address:

WE WELCOME NEW JANITOR STAFF

As of May 2, we will welcome Johnny Hansen as our new janitor. Johnny will be the primary janitor and he will also have the help of his mother, Jodi Pfiel, along with his Aunt Lori. They come with lots of experience in both residential and commercial cleaning. Jodi and Lori have been in the business for over 20 years.

Johnny will be working two days a week, Monday & Friday, maybe a little more as he gets acquainted with the building, etc., so if anyone needs him to do something specific, such as table setup, that needs to be communicated to the office staff ahead of time.

It will take a little time to get use to not having someone here every day, but we are sure the building will be taken care of in a professional manner and everyone will be happy with the results.

We look forward to having them as part of Trinity’s ministry!

Many of the volunteers are listed in the THANK YOU section of this newsletter, but there were many oth-ers who also served in one way or another to make sure everything ran smoothly. When you open your heart to serve God, beautiful things hap-pen, and if you attended any of our services these past few weeks, you know that the Spirit of the Lord was moving here at Trinity.

God’s blessings to you all this Easter season!

After a busy Lenten season and our beautiful Easter services, Pastor Paul is taking a week off to relax and work on his golf game.

Our hearts are filled with thanksgiv-ing for our wonderful members who stepped up these past couple weeks to volunteer their gifts in so many different ways.

Pastor would like to express his thankfulness to all who contributed to making Lent, Holy Week and Easter a moving expression of God's love for the world through their use of their talents and in gathering as the people of God.

A Note of Appreciation

DOLLAR SUNDAY/FOOD CART SUNDAY - APRIL 3 Don’t forget to bring your $1 on Sunday, April 3, for our Dollar Sunday donation to the neighborhood dinner in December. We reached our $1,000 goal for the December 2015 Neighborhood Christmas Dinner, where we fed around 450 people. The cost of the dinner has increased, so we have increased our goal to $1,500+ this year. We appreciate your donations each month to help make this dinner pos-sible for our neighbors.

The Mission Committee has been very busy working on several projects:

Soles for Souls is a very productive project. Our congregation has donated 863 pairs of shoes to the organization to be refurbished and distributed to people in need. Thanks to Jeri and Russ Snyder for transporting the shoes.

Food Cart - Please remember to bring nonperishable food items for our Food Cart, which will be donated to Midtown Family Community Center.

Back Door Ministry - Please donate to this fund when you can. Donations are given to The Micah Project to be used in assisting people with a variety of needs.

WARMING SHELTER, located at 703 West 5th Street, is a temporary emergency shelter during the winter months for those who are homeless. Trinity is aware of their need for food and other supplies and has started a fund for these needs. If you would like to donate to The Warming Shelter, you can mark your donation as such and you will be given credit on your envelope number. For more information on how you can volunteer in other ways, please contact Pastor Paul, who is on their board, or Joe Twidwell at 712-253-9273.

The Mission Committee is always looking for new members to join us. Please contact Jane at church or any of the Mis-sion Committee members if you are interested. We’d love to have you join us.

Trinity has 5 confirmation youth registered to attend Confirmation Camps in June and July this summer at Lutheran Lakeside Camp.

Trinity pays half of their camp fees, which amounts to $192.50.

Two of our youth are attending LEGO Robotics Camp; one will be attending Jr. Tree-houses Camp and two are attending Sailing Camp this summer. Trinity pays $100 toward each of their camp fees.

We are grateful to have funds in our camp scholarship fund in which to help these young people attend camp. Please remember to donate to this fund throughout the year, so we can continue to help our families send their kids to camp. We pray that they have a fun time at camp, but also that they will grow spiritually during that week, drawing closer to our great God.

To Christy Clark for directing the Palm Sunday drama and those who participated in the drama: Nick Schnell, Shawn Olorundami, John Den Beste,
