What is Université Sainte-Anne? Nova Scotia’s only francophone university Has five campuses, Pointe-de-l’Église,

Tusket, Petit-de-Grate, Sainte-Joseph-du-Moine and Halifax

The objectives of this trip are: 1. provide an opportunity for the students to be totally

immersed in a French environment; 2. to provide an educational awareness of the existence of

French in another area of the province; 3. to provide an opportunity to integrate students’

knowledge of the language into other areas of the province;

4. to provide an educational as well as an enjoyable cultural exchange.

There will be two methods of payment: 1. One full payment of $220.00 on or before

Thursday April 17th, 2015, 2. Three payments of $120.00, $50.00, and

$50.00 respectively on March 16th, March 30th, and April 17th, 2010. All cheques are to be made payable to Musquodoboit Rural High school.

• All costs for transportation, food and activities are included in this price.

STUDENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES1. All students must attend ALL scheduled

functions.2. They must respect the curfew of 10:00 p.m.3. Students will respect the University’s policy regarding

immersion programs. The students are expected to speak French at all times. Failure to do this will be met by warnings and privileges will be taken away. Any teachers, chaperons, and University’s monitors / animators can give a warning to a student. Names will be given to the student’s teacher.

STUDENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES4. As this is an official school activity, all rules of good

behavior and appropriate dress are in effect for the duration of the trip. Smoking and the consumption of alcohol are not permitted at any time. The University does not permit parties to be held in the residences.

5. Students may not leave the University campus.6. Chewing gum is not allowed.7. There will be 1 key per room. If the key is lost, there

will be a $25.00 fee charged by the University to get another one.

STUDENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES8. The University is not responsible for stolen articles.9. Because of limited baggage space on the buses, only 1

suitcase is permitted. Identify it clearly with your name and the name of your school.

10. Buses must be cleaned before arrival at your destination.

11. Rooms must be kept tidy. Room inspections will be done.

12. iPads, tablets and cell phones are not allowed.13. English books / magazines are not allowed.

Chaperones First Aid certified. The spoken language of the parent does not

matter, he/she will be acting as an assistant, not as a language monitor.

however it is important that chaperones make an effort to speak/learn some French during the week. This sets a good example.

Chaperones All parents wishing to serve as chaperones for

the trip must undergo and successfully complete a Criminal Records Check and Child Abuse Registry Search, as per Halifax Regional School Board Policy D.007, Section 4.2. Chaperones whose checks are incomplete or who have not successfully passed one or both checks by the date of the school’s trip will not be permitted to take part in the trip.

Material needed1. Personal items:

Towels and facecloths soap and deodorant toothbrush and toothpaste Any medication that your child may be required to take. Please

inform your child’s teacher if your student will be taking medication during the week of the trip, including the type of medication and dosage. This information is necessary in case of a medical emergency involving your child.

TEACHERS AND CHAPERONES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO ADMINISTER MEDICATIONS TO STUDENTS.

Material needed Spending money:

There is a store on campus at which students can buy souvenirs, t-shirts, etc.

We suggest a maximum of $40 to $50 to buy souvenirs. Interac (automatic debit) is available at the souvenir shop on campus. Teachers and chaperons will not be responsible for safeguarding students’ cash.
