    anywhere between 5,000and 8,000each year, dependent on your location,personal circumstances and howmuch you plan on going out.

    AccommodationThe cost of renting University-provided singleroom accommodation is likely to be between 370and 535per month,depending on the campus and the type of accommodation you choose.But youll only pay for 10 months per year. In privately-rented

    accommodation, rents are around 300400per month andcontracts may be for a 12-month period.

    BillsIf you live in privately-rented accommodation, you may need topay your bills gas, water and electricity in addition to your rent.Allow around 6080per month to cover these costs. In someaccommodation, bills are included in the rental costs.

    Course materialsThis depends on the course you chooseand will include books, art materials and so on.

    InsuranceContents insurance is crucial and you can expect to payaround 5per month, depending on where you live and what you wantto cover.

    FoodExpect to spend approx 50per week, depending on whoyoure living with and how you plan to share the cost of food.

    TransportTransport costs will vary depending on how far you haveto travel and whether youre using public transport. If you have a car,youll need to factor in things like insurance, road tax, servicing andMOTs, as well as the price of petrol.

    TripsDont forget to budget for occasional trips that are importantto your studies.

    Socialising and extrasWe dont expect you to stay in studyingevery evening. Experiencing the social life of university is a vital partof your student journey. Decide how much you should spend each weekon going out think about things like clothes and your mobile phonebill too. This varies for every student but always try to budget carefully,and remember that your living costs may be much higher if you dontgo home for the holidays.

    How much are the 2014 tuition fees exactly?

    The following tuition fee information is applicable to UK and EUstudents only.International students should visit our Internationalfees and finance web pages for further information atwww.ucreative.ac.uk/international/fees

    If you are a pre-degree UK/EU student and under 19 years of age on31 August prior to the start of your course you will not be charged tui-tion fees.

    No tuition fees will be charged to pre-degree UK/EU students if theyare aged between 19 and 24 on 31 August prior to the start of thecourse and are studying for their first full level 3 qualification.

    Adult Learner Support FundA discretionary fund available to those over 19 and studying a predegree course. They are designed to help with the cost of the course,where learners have a specific financial need which could preventthem from participating in learning.

    16-18 Bursary FundThere are discretionary bursaries available from UCA to help with thecost of the course including books, materials, field trips and travelwhere a student has a specific financial need which could preventthem from engaging in learning. These are open to students agedbetween 16-18, studying a pre degree course. Some students maybe entitled to a 1200 bursary depending on their circumstances,students in the care of their local authority or who are care leavers areone such group.

    Financial support available from other sources

    24+ Advanced Learning LoansIf youre aged 24 or older, you can apply for a loan to help covertuition fees for courses starting on or after 1 August 2014.For some priority groups there is a small bursary fund to helpwith some of the associated costs of the course such as childcareand travel.

    Residential Support SchemeIf you need to study away from home because the course youwant isnt available locally, you may be able to get financial helpwith the cost of your term-time accommodation.

    Government in the form of loansand grants or directly from UCAas bursaries and scholarships.

    Tuition Fee LoanThis will cover the full amount of your fees, the amount you receivedoesnt depend on your household income. The loan will have to berepaid after you have graduated and are earning over 21,000 a year.You can apply for a loan online at www.gov.ukfrom early 2014.

    Maintenance Loan for Living CostsYou can also apply for a loan to help with living costs depending on yourhousehold income and where you are living and studying. Up to 65% ofthe maximum living cost loan will be available to everyone, regardlessof their parental income. This loan will have to be repaid but not untilyou have graduated and are earning over 21,000 a year.

    Maintenance Grant for Living CostsThis is a grant to help with living costs. It does not have to be repaidand how much you can get depends on your household income.

    The amount of maintenance grant for living costs you receive willaffect the amount of maintenance loan for living costs you can borrow.

    Disabled Students Allowance (DSA)Support for your study is available if you have a long term condition. Youmay qualify for support from a learning mentor or learning support as-sistant. Grants are available to help with some the extra costs you may

    face because of a disability, for example help with printing or photocopy-ing costs.

    Conditions covered include long-term illnesses, mental health condi-tions or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

    If you qualify for DSA, this support is additional to the standard studentfinance you get. You can apply to Student Finance England for a DSA

    when you apply for student finance. DSA isnt affected by your householdincome.

    Parents Learning AllowanceThis funding could help towards your course costs, such as books,materials and travel. You apply for the Parents Learning Allowancewhen you apply for student finance.

    Depending on your circumstances there may be additional help

    available from the government.

    Childcare GrantThis grant could help with the cost of your childcare costs during termtime and holidays. If youre eligible, the amount you may get will depend

    on your household income, the cost of your childcare and the numberof children you have. You can apply for the Childcare grant when youapply for student finance.

    Adult Dependants GrantThis grant could provide extra help if you are a full-time highereducation student with an adult who depends on you financially.The amount you can get depends on your income and the income

    of your dependants. To apply for this you need to complete the relevantsections on your main student finance application when you apply forstudent loans and grants.

    You can get an idea of how much financial support youre likely toreceive by using the student finance calculator which can be foundat www.studentcalculator.org

    Simply fill in your course details and where youll be studying andliving, and youll receive an estimate of the loans and grants forwhich you may be eligible.

    How do I apply for loans and grants?

    Full-time English students should apply via Student Finance Englandfrom early 2014. You should apply as early as possible and you dontneed to have a confirmed place on a course. If your coursechanges, you can change this using your online student financeaccount.

    The final deadline for applying to ensure the finances you need are inplace when you start your course is still to be confirmed but will bespring 2014 for new students. Applying online is the easiest way to applyfor student finance. You will be able to apply this online by visitingwww.gov.uk/apply-online-for-student-finance

    The tuition fee loan and maintenance loan for living costs are puttogether into a single loan and each year you will pay back 9% ofyour income over 21,000 until the loan is paid off.

    The size of your repayment is based on your salary, not on the sizeof your loan so your monthly repayments will be the same, howeverlarge your loan. If you stop earning over 21,000, you stop repayingand any money not paid back after 30 years will be written off.

    How do I repay my loans?

    How does the Interest work on Student Loans?

    Interest is charged from the day you receive your first loan payment

    until the loan is repaid or written off, whichever is first. Any loanremaining after 30 years will be written off.

    Remember no student will have to make payments until April 2016,regardless of when they finish or leave their course and only if you earnmore than 21k. You can calculate the amount you may have to repay onthe Student Loan Calculator by visiting www.studentcalculator.org

    National Scholarship ProgrammeFor students starting in 2014 there will be around 480 scholarships

    available which will be allocated on the basis of financial hardshipfor those students with a household income of 25,000 or less. Thescholarships do not have to be paid back and are each 2,000 in totalcomprising:

    2,000 cash bursary (non-repayable, paid in instalments).

    or

    2,000 towards accommodation for students living in UCA halls of

    residence.

    You must fulfil the eligibility and selection criteria in order to receive one of these scholarships.

    The institutional services aspects of these bursaries are particularlyuseful as they cover a range different UCA services including:

    University accommodation

    Support with field trips costs

    Laptop purchase scheme

    Catering vouchers

    *The NSP scholarships, UCA bursaries and the Internal Progression Bursary are only available to studentsstarting their first BA (Hons) degree course or two year foundation degree in September 2014. There mayalso be Creative Scholarships for both new and continuing undergraduate degree students.

    To help you with the cost of living during your studies, UCA has arange of scholarships and bursaries designed to support our students.Unlike Government loans, these are not something you will have torepay at a later date.*

    How do I apply for an NSP?

    You should apply directly to UCA for the National ScholarshipProgramme awards if you are holding a firm offer at UCA(conditional or unconditional). The deadline for applications is October

    of each year. When assessing your application we will use the dataon household income you supplied to the Student Loans Company.You must consent to share your financial data when you apply for yourstudent loan or we will not be able to consider you for any awards.

    Am I eligible for an NSP?

    National Scholarship Programmes are available to students who are:

    English domiciled, new full-time undergraduate studentsstarting their studies

    From households with a declared annual household incomeof 25,000 or less

    Receiving the full allocation of Government support for universitystudy for which you are eligible, i.e. the tuition fee loan and

    maintenance loan or grant for living costs, via Student FinanceEngland.

    According to NSP selection criteria, priority will be given to:

    People who have been in care and who fulfil the eligibility criteriaabove. You will be required to confirm your care leaver status duringthe NSP application process.

    People with the lowest annual household incomes under 25,000.We receive notification of your household income from the StudentLoans Company, who take their data from the information you submitto Student Finance England when you apply for your tuition fee loanand maintenance loan or grant for living costs.

    Other important informationThe maximum number of National Scholarship Programmesawarded at UCA will be 480. If you receive an NSP award youmay also receive a UCA Bursary on top of this.     UCA Bursaries are available to students who are: English, Welsh and Northern Irish domiciled, full-time

    undergraduate students

    From households with a declared annual household income of40,000 or less for students starting a course or continuing onyear two

    Receiving government support for university study, i.e. thetuition fee loan and maintenance loan or grant for living costs,via Student Finance England.

    UCA BursariesFor students starting a degree course or continuing onto the secondyear of a degree course we have cash bursaries of up to 900 availableto those with an annual household income of up to 40,000. These can

    be used for anything you wish and do not have to be paid back.

    You will receive a UCA Bursary for each year of your undergraduate
