UT Athletics Contributions toThe University Economy

The Departments of Intercollegiate Athletics are 100% self-sustaining auxiliary enterprises of The University and receive no state funds. They operate in the black.

They operate under the same budget and university policies as all UT auxiliary enterprises.

UT Athletics pays The University approximately $1.8 million in annual overhead fees.

In 2007-08 UT Athletics contribute more than $14 million to the UT economy in payment of tuitions, fees, housing, utilities, parking, UTPD, recreational sports, and other entities.

Page 27: The University of Texas at Austin Intercollegiate Athletics Departments Annual Report to the Faculty Council January 26, 2009

UT Athletics Contributions to The University Economy

During the last three years, UT Athletics has given back $5.6 million to UT administration.

The University receives approximately $500,000-600,000 in annual interest from UT Athletics cash balances.

The University Libraries system received $64,000 from The University of Texas Club revenues last year.

UT Athletics generates thousands of dollars each year for UT’s general scholarships fund through such honors as Chevrolet Player of the Game, etc.
