TRANSFER STATION NOTICE
The Village Of Port Alice Transfer Station at the Public Works Yard is
for residential use only.
Contractors must dispose of waste at the 7 Mile Landfill.
Home demo/reno waste is accepted but limited to one truckload per
week.
Wood waste must be clean.
The Transfer Station does not accept drywall or asphalt roofing tiles.

Raised $7400.00 this Year!
I would like to thank everyone who has donated to this cause, be it
time, an auction item or money, and I would like to thank Bill Jr.
(Family Foods), Maria, Kerry, Michelle, Lynette, Helen, Heather,
Corrine, Narda, Dayna, Jon, Yvonne, Save on Foods, Sandra, Island
Foods and anyone I might have missed for all the food items that have
been donated for this event.
Also like to thank the people that helped out this year; Lynette, Maria,
Neil, Rheanna, Kessler, Dana, Joe, Corrine, Greg, Natasha, Tyler,
Courtney, Dayna, Susan, Mike, Vicky, Juanita, Tom, Lyla, Nicky, the
Community Centre Crew, the Village Office & Crew, the Royal
Canadian Legion and if I missed anyone I’m sorry but Thank you!
The $7400.00 total includes the Raffle, Dinner Ticket sales, Shirt &
Hats sales, Auction items at the event, a portion of the Head Shaving
event, Cash and the Breakfast donations.

November 18th – Christmas Creations Craft Fair – Crafters from the all over
the Island come together to share their wares. Get started on Christmas shopping
and get into the holiday spirit! Great food and free balloons for the kids! To rent a table call the Community Centre at 250-284-3912.
December 2nd- Tree Light Up – Join us at the Fire Hall as we illuminate the night sky. Caroling, Hot Chocolate and Cookies, everyone welcome!
December 3rd - Ladies Desert Night – This is a free fun-filled evening to help
get you into the holiday spirit. Presented by the Oceanview Christian Assembly.
December 5th – Wreath-making & Family Crafts- Make beautiful holiday decor from fragrant cedar boughs. Cost is $15, includes all materials. Holiday
Crafts for the whole family, $5/person. Please sign up by Monday December 5th by calling 284-3912.
December 7th - Seniors Christmas Potluck- we supply the meat, bring a side-
dish or dessert to share. BINGO, carolling & crafts to follow supper, all adults welcome!
December 14th- Cookie Creations -A fun filled night for the whole family;
decorate delicious gingerbread & sugar cookies, and gingerbread house. A great way to kick off the holiday season! Fees apply, all materials provided.
December 15th – Breakfast with Santa – Don’t miss the annual Christmas
party, with special guest, Santa Claus! Enjoy some breakfast and a photo op with Santa. All ages BINGO in the Larry Pepper Rm starts at 1:30pm. Fun for the
whole family, free, everyone is welcome!

young child/children (aged birth to 5yrs) in play-based
early learning activities, including stories, music and art.
There is no cost for this early learning drop-in program
which helps prepare children for success in kindergar-

CALM WATERS CAFÉ -- Wednesday to Saturday 8:00 am - 11:30 a.m
Come enjoy a homemade breakfast. Looking for something to do? We need volunteers to
help out in the café.
DEW GROUP – DIET, EXERCISE AND WELLNESS --Thursday mornings at 10:00. Join the
group to talk about issues around health and wellness.
LEGION BAR – Bar hours are 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Off Sales are available during
business hours. Come out and play pool, throw some darts and socialize. Dart League will be
staring soon. Watch for details.
MEMBERSHIP -- 2019 memberships are due. Pay by November 30th.at the bar and you will
be entered in a Early Bird draw for a prize. Transferring from another Legion? Transfer and
application forms are at the bar as well.
Membership gives you discounts at many businesses, helps veterans and contributes to the

MEAT DRAWS – Every Thursday and Friday evening we have a Meat Draw. Tickets are
$1.00 each.

The Port Alice Wood Stove Exchange Program is
designed to encourage residents to exchange their old,
inefficient, non-EPA certified wood burning appliances for
new EPA-certified wood burning stoves and inserts, and
other qualifying appliances including gas, pellet and
electric. (Some exceptions apply).
Port Alice residents who exchange their old wood-burning
appliance for one qualified under the Program, are
eligible to receive a $250 rebate, providing that the old
stove will be decommissioned and recycled.
