OVERVIEW

Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology,

Government of Karnataka organized 23rd edition of Bengaluru Tech Summit between 19th to 21st

November 2020. Bengaluru Tech Summit, is a unified platform for India's two pioneering events;

Bengaluru ITE.Biz and Bengaluru India Bio. Despite the challenges of pandemic, the world is facing, it

did not stop us. In fact, it made us believe that the future is advancing at a lightning speed transforming

the way we live, play, learn, work and do business. The role of technology is now even more significant

giving us new tools, new options and new ways to go further, faster than ever before as we enter a

radically different world.

That's why BTS 2020 transformed itself into a Virtual Tech Event with the theme 'NEXT IS NOW'. The

event witnessed world's best minds streaming their vision, leaders forecasting the future, technocrats

unravelling new products, start-ups presenting cutting edge ideas. The virtual event concluded on Nov

21st was kept open to all participants till December 24th to access all sessions and exhibition.

The Event Spectrum consisted of Multi-Track Conference, B2B Exhibition, Global Innovation Alliance,

India Innovation Alliance, Lab to Market, STPI IT Export Awards, Smart Bio Awards, Startup Zone, Rural

IT Quiz, Bio Quiz, Biotech Posters and B2B Partnering.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

BTS 2020 International Conference witnessed the virtual participation of 8507 Business Delegates

addressed by 357 Star-speakers in 93 Conference Sessions spanning over 4 tracks focusing on IT,

Biotechnology, GIA and Start-Ups. The Conference focused on the most disruptive technologies and

innovations across the globe. Some of the key focus areas of the summit were: Space Technologies,

Healthcare, Future of Work, Startup for Public Good, Electronics & Semi-Conductor, Reimagining Digital

Health, COVID-19, Pandemic Preparedness among others.

For the first time the International Advisory Group was also formed adding global perspectives to the

conference programme. The Conference Programme was curated with the able leadership of Vision

Group Chairs, International; Advisory Committee and IT & BT Conference Committees. Conference

was attended by Industry Captains, Policy Makers, R&D Heads, Academia Experts, Tech Entrepreneurs,

Unicorns, Investors etc.

Innovation & Health.

PROGRAMME AT A GLANCE The conference was spread across 5 halls namely, Plenary, Knowledge Hub, Innovation Corner, One Health & Country Sessions (GIA). The sessions were grouped together to enable delegates to pick and choose their topic of interest and consume it conveniently.

The entire conference sessions was opened for VTU community and public free consumption on a independent platform.

GIA HIGHLIGHTS

1. Virtual remarks at the inaugural were provided by Mr. Scott Morrison, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Australia and Mr. Guy Parmelin, Vice President of Swiss Confederation.

2. The summit witnessed:

a. Senior government delegations from 25+ countries b. 16 GIA sessions by international partners - Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Finland,

France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and Taiwan.

c. We had leading innovators, scientists and tech evangelists participating from all across the globe - despite varying time zones. For instance, in the One Health track, we had speakers from leading North American institutions such as MIT and Harvard.

3. The success of the Global Innovation Alliance program of the Department was also on full

4. During the Summit, the State of Karnataka has finalized Eight (8) MoUs and Intentions for

Collaboration with GIA partner institutions. It is great to see so many institutional level collaborations shaping up and we look forward to further strengthening our relationship with the GIA partner countries. These MoUs are time bound, deliverable focused and activity oriented and we will make sure that there is monitoring of the implementation of the MoUs to achieve the desired objectives:

BEYOND BENGALURU Beyond Bengaluru - One-day virtual event organized on Thursday 12th November brought together leaders from across Karnataka to deliberate on making the tier-II cities as the next Global Technology Hub. Beyond Bengaluru discussed issues such as Smart technologies for Smart cities, Internet of Things in Manufacturing and showcased established

companies as well as top start-ups from tier-II cities. Beyond Bengaluru initiative is aimed at giving a boost to the tier- II region to emerge as the next IT, Electronics and Biotech destination. Beyond Bengaluru One day programme was inaugurated by Hon'ble Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Higher Education, Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Department, Government of Karnataka in the presence of other distinguished guests Shri Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, Vision Group on IT, Government of Karnataka, Shri B.V. AWARDS & QUIZ ROGRAMME Prestigious awards of STPI presented to the IT Industry of Karnataka, based on their Export performance for the 2019-2020 financial year. For the selection of the Award, an Eminent Jury had been constituted

comprising of Members from Industry, Academia, Media and Government. Total 30 number of Awards were given to the winners.

SmartBio Awards - Second time with the sole purpose of recognizing Biotechnology Firms in 5 cetagories. These chosen organisations have shown dynamic leadership, stand-out contribution characterized by breakthrough innovation, top-class execution and fast paced-growth.

Individual Investors and Mentors who have made significant contribution supporting exiting technologies, nurturing innovative ideas and product development were recognized by conferring SmartBio Awards. For the selection of the Award winners, an Eminent Jury was constituted by ABLE comprising of Members from Industry, Academia, Media and Government.

The 21th edition of the Rural IT Quiz program was organized by Tata Consultancy Services witnessed a thrilling National Final. The National winners received a glittering trophy & TCS educational scholarship of Rs. 1,00,000/- and the Runners-up received Rs 50,000/-. All the finalists

also received an array of prizes, in addition to the TCS cash scholarship of Rs 10,000/- they had won at the State Finals.

KARNATAKA BIOECONOMY REPORT 2020 & E-BOOKLET & VIDEO CHRONICLING 20 YEARS OF IBAB PRESS MEET – NOV 20TH 2020 (HYBRID)

This Press Meet was organized to launch the Karnataka Bioeconomy Report 2020 at the hands of Hon'ble Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Higher Education, Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Department, Government of Karnataka. Dr. E.V. Ramana Reddy, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister and Department of Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Government of Karnataka explained the background and need for undertaking this study. Mr. N Suresh, COO, Association of Biotech Led Enterprises gave overview about methodology and highlights of Karnataka Bioeconomy Report 2020. Dignitaries also released e-Booklet: IBAB: Idea to Achievement. There was also launch of video on Bengaluru Helix Biotechnology Part & BT Ecosystem. PRINT MEDIA - Inauguration Advertisements BTS 2020 Inauguration dignitaries had powerful personalities of various stature, overall conduct of the event was complete virtual, there were certain programmes which were openly available to large audience, hence there was a need of massive Inauguration advertisement schedule. Therefore, BTS 2020 had quite an exhaustive list for Inauguration Advertisements. First time, there was TOI All India and several Delhi editions release for Inauguration. PRINT MEDIA - Advertorials First time, BTS 2020 had half page advertorials. These were total 7 releases and 3 of them were released as run-up to the event and 4 were released after the inauguration. These advertorials were aimed at showcasing various IT initiatives of Department of Electronics, IT, Bt and S&T, Government of Karnataka, apprising Beyond Bengaluru effort, Department’s contribution in Biotechnology as well as to promote Bengaluru Tech Summit 2020. Advertorials in Dainik Jagran & Dainik Bhaskar were done in Hindi while others were done in English. All these advertorials were accounted for 5762 sqcm.

TRADE MEDIA In order to reach out to the various stakeholders from IT & Bt fraternity, online advertisement campaign was done with some of the leading tech media portals. Print Advertisements were also done with BioSpectrum India & Asia. IT Trade Media: CXO TV.news, Channel Drive,India Tech Online, Telecom Drive, Small Enterprise India & Biotech Trade Media: BioMall, BioSpectrum Asia & India. OUTDOOR Outdoor campaign was done to create more awareness about the event. It included 40 BMTC Buses with back panel branding which ran across various depots in and around Bengaluru and 2 Mobile Vans which were put on a strategic route catering to IT, Biotech parks and some other important most attended places.

RADIO Radio Campaign played a crucial role in creating the buzz about the event. It was mainly targeted to popularize Expo Visits as well as Delegate Registrations. 2 Jingles were produced, both in English & Kannada and they were used across the campaign.

BTS 2020 curated Panel Discussion with Think Tank of State of Karnataka with the theme “Building the Next Wave of Innovative Disruption”. This was telecasted on CNBC TV 18 on Saturday Nov 7th and on CNN NEWS 18 on Sunday Nov 8th.

600 seconds each on both the channels were used to promote the promo of this Panel Discussion. And 2500 seconds each on both channels were used as FCT through 30secs TVC.

TIMES NOW & ET NOW Another Panel Discussion was curated for BTS 2020 with stalwarts from State of Karnataka with the theme “Next is Now”. This was telecasted on TIMES NOW on Saturday Nov 14th and on ET NOW on Sunday Nov 15th.

720 seconds on TIMES NOW & 900 seconds on ET NOW were used to promote the promo of this Panel Discussion. And 800 seconds on TIMES NOW & 900 seconds on ET NOW were used as FCT through 30secs TVC.

Virtual Participation Rewards Leaderboard Prizes

The objective of creating leaderboard was to ensure that the virtual participants explored and

consumed all the aspects of the event from updated thier profile to consuming contenet across,

conference, expo, meetings, exchange of business cards and participating in polls, quiz & feedback.

Each activity had a specific point and cumalitive points were registerd automatically by the system by

the end of third day. The final list was arrived at by isolating BTS stakeholders.
