School programme Meetthe SaeimaI
The programme aims to spark young peoplesinterest in Latvias political processes, encouragingthem to follow these processes and get involved, aswell as educating them about the Saeima, thelegislative process, democracy and civic
participation
The programme was launched by Solvitaboltia,Speaker of the Saeima, on 19 October 2012 at theRiga English Grammar School
So far, 3,000young people from 60 schools inLatvia have taken part in the programme

Filed submissions
Approximately 7,000 submissions are filed annually with the Saeima byprivate entities; usually submissions are sent by mail
The majority of submissions are addressed to the Speaker of the Saeima,MPs and sectoral committees
Society now has broader opportunities to influence law making by filing withthe Saeima a collective submission signed by at least 10,000 citizens
Submissions are an important source of information used by committeesand MPs in their work
Once a month the Mandate, Ethics and Submissions Committee of theSaeima reviews information on submissions; reports on submissions arepublicly available on the Saeima website

Visitors of the Centre
Approximately 3,300people per year take the opportunity to visit the Centre
The Open Door Day of the Saeima is the most active day at the Centre
Some people use the services offered by the Centre on a regular basis. Oneindividual has visited the Centre 80times already
Visitors meet with MPs or other officials of the parliament at the Centre (byprior appointment)
Once a month the Centre informs the Mandate, Ethics and SubmissionsCommittee of the Saeima about its work; reports on the Centres activity arealso publicly available on the Saeima website
