    Archaic means primitive and old. It refers to something that pertains to an earlier time, something that wascommonly used earlier but is rare in present day.     Artifice is a clever trick or a cunning strategy. It is used as a noun. It is pretty much like the word artful andhas a similar meaning too but is used in the negative sense though.
