2017 Chairman of the Board Veronica Morton, Vantage West Credit Union
We started the year with another wonderful Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation which was enjoyed by more than 235 people. Business and com-munity leaders were acknowledged for their contributions to the community. This was followed by the Chamber’s annual Home, Health and Garden Show and Car & Truck Show which, despite the rainy weather, drew a great crowd of more than 2,200 people! Just a reminder that photos of chamber networking
events are posted on the chamber Facebook page, so be sure to like us at www.facebook.com/cgbiz. Each January, the Chamber develops its Business Plan for the year based on member sur-veys and dialogue at the Chamber Board of Directors planning session held the prior Novem-ber. The business plan outlines the objectives for the year and general strategic steps to be implemented in achieving the objectives. The 2017 Business Plan includes the following objectives and some of the strategic steps: Business Advocacy: Membership surveys on pertinent business issues; connecting business professionals through networking and events; leadership development. Economic and Work-force Development: Enhancing business, educational and community partnerships; work-shops and job fairs; recognizing and relaying current/relevant business trends. Business De-velopment: Small-business development programs, working with area partners on small-business programs and workshops; connect large employers through information roundtable. Marketing: Promote buying locally through messages in editorials in local media and events such as the Business Showcase and Home Show; continue development of a destination mar-keting plan; maintain designation of Arizona Office of Tourism Visitor Information Center. Chamber Operations: Continue to maintain fiscal stability through review of financial data and utilizing current technology and staff training. For a copy of the 2017 Business Plan, please click here. As always, please buy local when possible and I look forward to seeing you at our next Chamber event!
