Water is very important for life. We need water to drink, to wash our hands, to cook, to water plants and many other things. Without water, the plants would die and people and animals would go thirsty. Water is a chemical substances with the chemical formula H2O.Its molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms connected by covalent bonds. Water is a liquid at ambient conditions, but it often co-exists on Earth with its solid state, ice, and gaseous state (water vapor or steam). Water also exists in a liquid crystal state near hydrophilic surfaces.

DEFINITION OF WATER

Page 3: THE WATER RESOURCE

GLOSSARY :ESTRUCTURE : Composition, a part of something.MOLECULE: Small Particles neutral atoms formed a

series of linked.ATOM: The smallest unit of a chemical element

that retains its identity or their property and can not be divided by chemical processes.ISSUE: Kicking, produce and circulate somethingCONSTITUTION: Being part of a whole.COMPONENT: Essential to the operation of an activity.HEAT: Temperatures are rising gradually.

Page 4: THE WATER RESOURCE

EFFECT: That which is achieved by virtue of a cause or the purpose for which something is done.RADIATION: Propagation of energy in the form of waves through a vacuum or a material medium.CARBON DIOXIDE: The smoke expelled by burning gasoline vehicles.AQUIFERS: Area of land that contains water in a given layer of soil. Groundwater.

I think water is a very important natural resource that you can use it when we brush our teeth, when we wash our hands, when we go to the pool, when we drink water etc.

Soil is a very important natural resources that plant uses to take the nutrients like water and then they grow healthy and beautiful in the soil live animals like worms.

Water I think that the water is a very important resource in our life to live, swim, eat, and take a bath. (ECT) the water is natural resource that we use every day in the whole life we have to save the water to live, save the water!!

Soil I think that he soil is a very important natural resources in our life, a lot of plants use the soil to can live and grow very healthy, soil is used for: soil is 2. is used to make pots.3. is used in constructions and arts.

Water UsesThe uses of water are many, from drinking and cleaning to irrigating crops and landscapes. Water is used for cooling, for recreation, and dust control. Water is needed for restaurants, most industrial processes, and even some religious ceremonies. On another level, the splash and flow of water in streams and fountains soothes and inspires.

Water MoleculeThe water molecule is formed from two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. The bonding angle of the two hydrogen's is almost 105 degrees rather than 180 degrees which would make the molecule symmetrical. This causes it to be dipolar, giving it a positive and negative side which accounts for its unique properties. This allows the formation of hydrogen bonds between adjacent molecules. There is a weak intermolecular force of electrostatic attraction between the molecules which is known as van der Waals force. This causes the molecules to act as larger units than the individual molecules.

THE SOIL AND WATER

• Water is a renewable natural resource that the Earth is in balancing these two elements vital source for the universe.

Page 10: THE WATER RESOURCE

WHERE CAN WE FIND WATERThe rivers are streams of water more or less permanent. They originate in a place called birth, flow into another river, sea or lake

Page 11: THE WATER RESOURCE

Types of Water Cooled liquid water and condensed water vapor reaches a higher density and becomes fluid, which, being drawn from the atmosphere by the gravity of the earth as rain falls

Page 13: THE WATER RESOURCE

Fresh Water Although fresh water represents only a small part of Earth's water is very important to us because it alone can be harnessed for human consumption. Fresh water will be found in liquid form in rivers, lakes, or underground

Page 14: THE WATER RESOURCE

Salt Water Oceans and seas cover about 71% of l planet's surface and separating the continents. The ocean waters contain large amounts of salt, as well as other dissolved minerals, so are called salt water

Page 15: THE WATER RESOURCE

ANIMALS THAT LIVES IN SALT

WATERThere are all kinds of animals that live in salt water. They would include fish, turtles, dolphins, salt water crocodiles, and whales including sperm, blue, killer, and humpback.

Page 16: THE WATER RESOURCE

Fresh water is essential to life on Earth. All land-dwelling creatures need fresh water to survive. Its presence, or absesnce defines every terrestrial habitat. The Nature Conservancy works to protect the planet's freshwater resources, and the animals that depend upon them.

Amazon River Dolphin

Freshwater dolphins are rare, and becoming rarer. The dolphins of the Amazon are under threat.

American Alligator

Like its cousin the saltwater crocodile the American alligator is a formidable predator, and is elusive, despite its large size.

River Otters

These playful creatures need healthy rivers to survive, as do their much larger relations, the giant otter of South America.Snow Geese

The annual migration of these geese by their millions is one of Planet Earth's most impressive natural wonders.

Hippopotamus

These giants of Africa's rivers can be remarkable dangerous, especially to people who come too close in small boats.

Paddlefish

This unusual fish is a big river specialist, using its paddle-like snout to detect food in the dark waters of the Mississippi River.

Molecular estructureThe water is a substance compound, by the union of simple atoms :are 2 atoms of oxygen united to 1 atom of hydrogen, with a molecule in the form O-H-O; that it writes

H²O.

Page 18: THE WATER RESOURCE

Water is a very unusual compound; it is very common and is found in all three conditional states, solid (as ice), liquid (as water) and gas (as water vapor). Other types of bonding can occur, such as covalent bonding (as seen in the formation of molecular oxygen) or ionic bonding (as seen in thecan break up the electrical attraction of atoms of solids and dissolves them. tion of molecular oxygen) or ionic bonding (as seen in the formation of salt or sodium chloride[NaCl]). Hydrogen bonding can break up the electrical attraction of atoms of solids and dissolves them.

The water Cycle The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle or H2O cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of the Earth. Water can change states among liquid the sun, which drives the water cycle, heats water in oceans and seas. Water evaporates as water vapor into the air. Ice and snow can sublimate directly into water vapor. Evapotranspiration is water transpired from plants and evaporated from the soil. Rising air currents take the vapor up into the atmosphere where cooler temperatures cause it to condense into clouds.

Water Contamination

Water is the lifeblood for food, hygiene, human activities, agriculture and industry. Therefore, the sanitary requirements are more stringent with respect to water intended for consumption by the population, demands are becoming less satisfied by their pollution, which reduces the amount and quality of water available, as well as natural sources.

Page 21: THE WATER RESOURCE

TYPES OF WATER POLLUTION• Water pollution can be caused by:

Mineral compounds, from industry, can be toxic substances such as metals, copper, iron, which affect the color, taste, and smell.

Agricultural pollution also affects water safety.

Livestock wastewater: The type of pollutants will be organic matter and microorganisms. can contaminate nearby wells and groundwater.

In households do not have practice of recycling, which results in urban sewage which has its confluence with the rivers and seas.

Page 22: THE WATER RESOURCE

SOME EFFECTS OF WATER POLLUTION

Affect human health. The presence of disorder produce fertilizers can cause acute diarrhea and lesions in the liver and kidneys.

The land, lakes and rivers will dry and therefore get in little portions water.

The Soil runs out of power supply of some plants and plants die.

The animals also suffer from pollution Illnesses.

Scarcity of food agriculture.

WATER QUOTES

•Nothing in the world is more f lexible and yielding than water. Yet when it attacks the f irm and the strong, none can withstand it, because they have no way to change it. So the f lexible overcome the adamant, the yielding overcome the forceful.

Everyone knows this, but no one can do it.”•“Water is life's mater and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water.”•Don't you realize that the sea is the home of water? All water is off on a journey unless it's in the sea, and it's homesick, and bound to make its way home someday

”•In an age when man has forgotten his origins and is blind even to his most essential needs for survival, water along with other resources has become the victim of his indifference

Lawmaker Attempts To Set Limit On Tap Water Carcinogen

By California Capitol Network

February 22, 2011

A state lawmaker wants California to set limits on a known carcinogen

in tap water. Democratic Assemblywoman Nora Campos has a bill that

would require the state’s Department of Public Health to set a

standard for hexavalent chromium, also known as chromium six. The

chemical gained infamy in the movie Erin Brokovich.

Campos, who lives in San Jose, points to a recent study by the

Environmental Working Group. She said it found chromium six levels

that were higher than California’s proposed public health goals in

more than two dozen U.S. cities.

HELP US TO CARE FOR OUR WATER AND ECOSYSTEM IN GENERAL.

As we all know, today the water has become a commodity that is not inexhaustible, and our life depends on it.Potable water reserves in the world are scarce and must care for them. Present below a few tips that we apply in our home to care for the precious liquid, water.

Page 28: THE WATER RESOURCE

tips to save the water …

#2When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.

#3Some refrigerators, air conditioners and ice-makers are cooled with wasted flows of water. Consider upgrading with air-cooled appliances for significant water savings.

#4Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered and not the house, sidewalk, or street.

#5Run your clothes washer and dishwasher only when they are full. You can save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

#6Choose shrubs and groundcovers instead of turf for hard-to-water areas such as steep slopes and isolated strips.

#7Install covers on pools and spas and check for leaks around your pumps.

#8Use the garbage disposal sparingly. Compost vegetable food waste instead and save gallons every time.

#9Plant in the fall when conditions are cooler and rainfall is more plentiful.
