The new cancer center will be at ground level which will provide convenient parking and access for patients. The timeline for the entire project is less than one year, with a targeted completion of summer 2013. The current cancer center was founded in 1996 and has been the leading provider of oncology services in the region, delivering individualized cancer care. Patients can receive treatment for a wide variety of cancers including gynecologic, breast, lung, prostate, and head and neck. Patients also have access to a full range of support services including a social worker, dietitian, cancer support group and spiritual care. These services complement the cancer program which primarily consists of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. The new facility will upgrade and expand the medical oncology space with larger patient treatment areas and double the number of exam rooms. A new linear accelerator will be installed to provide cancer patients with the most advanced modern radiation therapy including stereotactic radiosurgery. Golf Digest deems three North Dakota golf courses most fun. Bismarck, N.D. – Three North Dakota golf courses have been recognized by Golf Digest as some of the nation’s most fun courses to play. In the magazine’s September issue, Bully Pulpit Golf Course, Medora; The Links of North Dakota, Ray; and Hawktree Golf Course, Bismarck; are featured in Golf Digest’s first ranking of “Most Fun Courses.” The national magazine chose 50 public and 50 private golf courses for its listing, and all three North Dakota golf courses are included in the public golf course category. Golf Digest selected the golf courses with the help of its panelists, consisting of almost 1,000 golf enthusiasts who create the magazine’s biennial rankings of America’s 100 Greatest Courses, 100 Greatest Public and Best in State. Of the courses on the list, Golf Digest declares “a good time is all but guaranteed.”

“North Dakota is home to many outstanding golf courses, and it’s exciting that Bully Pulpit, Hawktree and The Links of North Dakota have been recognized as some of the most fun courses to play in the nation,” Sara Otte Coleman, director of North Dakota Tourism said. “These three courses offer a fun game in the sense that they challenge all skill levels, yet aren’t overwhelming for the recreational golfer. As an added bonus, they feature spectacular scenery.” For more information about golfing in North Dakota: www.ndtourism.com.

Deer Archery Season Opens Friday August 31North Dakota’s deer archery season opens Friday, Aug. 31 at noon. Hunters must have an archery license to hunt during the bow season – there are no concurrent season deer gun licenses in 2012.

Bowhunters must follow all regulations of the managing agency when using tree stands on public hunting areas, including displaying the owner’s name, address and telephone number on tree stands left unattended on North Dakota Game and Fish Department wildlife management areas.

The Game and Fish Department annually receives inquiries from bowhunters regarding tree stands that are stolen, moved or tampered with. Tree stands are private property and theft constitutes a criminal violation that should be reported to the local sheriff’s department.

Bowhunters are also reminded that hunting big game over bait is prohibited on both public and private land in deer units 3C, 3E1, 3E2, 3F1 and 3F2.

The archery season is open through Jan. 6, 2013. Hunters should refer to the 2012 deer hunting guide for season information and regulations.

North Dakota Helps Reduce US Oil ImportsA boom in oil production from the shale formations of North Dakota and Texas has the U.S. on a course to cut its reliance on imported crude oil to about 42 percent this year, the lowest level in two decades.

Dependence on crude purchased from foreign countries is on a pace to decline from last year. Higher oil prices and an increased use of a drilling technique known as hydraulic fracturing has producers including Continental Resources Inc. (CLR), Marathon Oil Corp. (MRO) and Hess Corp. (HES) boosting production from oil-rich geologic formations.

H y d r a u l i c fracturing, or fracking, involves pumping millions of gallons of water into the ground to free oil and natural gas and has been widely

used in shale-rock formations such as the Bakken of North Dakota and Eagle Ford in Texas.

What’s happening in North Dakota, and in Texas, with Eagle Ford and the Bakken formation is a tremendous development for U.S. oil production and economic growth.

In 2011, the U.S. relied on imports for 44.8 percent of its petroleum consumption, down from 60.3 percent in 2005, according to EIA data. This year, the country should end up at about 42 percent.

Movie Review - The ApparitionDraco Malfoy keeps making the wrong decisions in supernatural school. In The Apparition, Harry Potter’s Tom Felton plays the ringleader of a séance that aims to repeat an infamous 1973 “experiment” using with advanced technology. His group of college copycats comically overdo all the mechanics—heat sensors, EEG readings, brain wave amplifiers—and the effects of their fatal tomfoolery are felt most by a super-hot but ordinary couple living in a borrowed McHome out in the center of a spanking new suburban sprawl. Why would anyone torment them? The answers are inconclusive, but at least writer/director Todd Lincoln’s capacity for conventional suspense is great, resulting in squirm, squeal and scream-inducing scares. Ultimately, this release’s timing obscures its flaws: it’s the last week of summer for most teens and this PG-13 fright fest couldn’t be better designed for them—it stars second tier blockbuster idols Felton, Sebastian Stan (Captain America’s Bucky) and Ashley Greene (Twilight’s Alice Cullen), and it even has a fixation about passing through doorways, which will be cathartic to auds scared of entering new classrooms.

In the turn of the century, secular America was fixated on communicating with the beyond. The national obsession was a kind of retreat from the coming of telegraphy, which relied on electricity and wires to connect people, when all a séance needs is a couple candles and human beings willing to hold hands. But even today with the

riches of the internet there to help them, these kids still don’t know what they’re doing—they have curiosity, stolen gadgetry and no sense of consequence. And worse, they’re bored. They’re about as tied to this event as they are to a grocery run—it’s a special event purely because it breaks the monotony.

The soulless-ness of their empty plot of track homes and super-store existence invokes both Poltergeist and Employee of the Month. It’s possible Lincoln is indicting these new graduates because they don’t “get” the value of owning a home, providing for themselves, or earning a living. Still, killing them with ghosts is an overly harsh harsh life lesson. If Lincoln’s horror tropes are just a cover for his anti-suburban screed, how about some solutions instead of a cautionary tale with the added bonus of a semi-naked Ashley Greene? Though he’s right about one thing: no one wants to die at Costco.

Distributor: Warner Bros.Cast: Ashley Greene, Sebastian Stan, Tom FeltonDirector/Screenwriter: Todd LincolnProducers: Alex Heineman, Todd Lincoln, Andrew Rona, Joel SilverGenre: HorrorRating: PG-13 for terror/frightening images and some sensuality.Running time: 82 min.Release date: August 24, 2012By Sara Maria Vizcarrondo

Sunday’s good for fully feeling it out.TAURUS (Apr. 21- May 21)Your powers of persuasion are pretty darn compelling on Monday and Tuesday! Get ‘em on your side -- at work and in your personal life. Really, why would they want to be anywhere else? Then your challenge over the next several days will be to find the middle ground. Don’t overindulge in social activities, but don’t tether yourself to a desk, either! Keep things nice and even; you’ll want to be in a pulled-together emotional state for some interesting (read: challenging, maybe stormy or possibly great) interpersonal stuff coming on Friday and over the weekend.GEMINI (May 22-June 21)It may seem like there’s a bit of a gulf between you and what you’re trying to do (or maybe between you and a certain someone) as the week begins, but it’s not so hard to bridge. Hint: Less is very likely more right now. Don’t overcomplicate. And don’t fret -- the stars are ready to send an overabundance of riches your way around Wednesday, but only if you’re willing to get involved instead of getting overwhelmed. So much to do, so little time! Go on and burn the candle at both ends a bit -- you can play catch-up when mellower energy arrives on Friday and over the weekend.CANCER (June 22-July 22)At the beginning of this week, you’ve got your amazing emotional intelligence plus the ability to see patterns and connections you may have missed before. How will you use your full-spectrum smarts at work and in your love life? Then, on Wednesday, don’t ignore something hoping it’ll just go away. Addressing an issue or a difference of opinion may be stressful, but letting it slide will only make matters stickier. On Friday and over the weekend, let your actions and words speak for your heart. When you’re true to yourself, the rest falls into place.

LEO (July 23-Aug 22)They say that a little time spent alone each day is time well spent, and it will be especially true on Monday. You might even find that with a quiet mind, a certain decision practically makes itself -- and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are perfect for taking action, whether on practical work matters or in the relationship sphere. The stars smile on your willingness to share what you’re thinking and embrace change! And be inquisitive on Friday and over the weekend. A better understanding is within reach -- and on Sunday, love’s in the air!VIRGO (Aug. 23 -Sept. 23)Make it look easy! With the stars on your side as the week gets going, your work and your personal life are chock-full of possibilities -- all you’ve got to do is reach out. But around Wednesday, you’re gonna need a sounding board. Think of the person whose values you respect most, then get in touch and talk it through. And if you find yourself feeling impatient on Friday or over the weekend, take it as a sign to stop, breathe and assess (or reassess, as the case may be). Focus on what you can learn in the here and now instead of wishing you were someplace else.LIBRA (Sept. 24 -Oct. 23)On Monday, the more you listen, the more you’ll understand; especially when it comes to relationships. Don’t forget to listen to your own heart, too! Then, if you’ve been feeling off-kilter, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday offer a more self-confident, positive frame of mind. Once you’re feeling on top of your game, all the rest just falls into place! Starting Friday, the change you’re contemplating is definitely worth consideration, but you may want to wait until Sunday to bounce it off a certain someone. Ask them to help you explore it, and you might get a better assistant than you expected!SCORPIO (Oct. 24 - Nov. 22)As the week gets going, you’ve got perfectionist tendencies that are, well, perfect for work and getting things in order. When it comes to people, though, you’ve got to give them at least a little leeway. Around Wednesday, a conflict or opposition of some sort is likely to arise, and you’ll be ready to think of all sorts of proactive steps to take. But what about a simpler way? What would happen if you just gave in, or cheerfully compromised? Starting Friday, you’ll be extra smart, super sexy and all around awesome. Have a great weekend!

SAGITTARIUS(Nov.23-Dec. 21)Issuing an ultimatum might be tempting on Monday, but make sure it’s really a your-way-or-no-way situation, because the answer may be no way. If you can possibly wait on it, the stars will offer a different perspective over the next few days, not to mention a new way to express yourself that will open possibilities instead of possibly closing doors. Frame it in terms of your hopes instead of the problems. On Friday and Saturday, everyone else will be ready to party, but you’ll want at least a little solo time to read, think and just be. Sunday, though, is a fun day -- plan for it!CAPRICORN (Dec 22.- Jan. 20)It may seem safe to assume you get it at the beginning of the week, but would it really hurt to ask? (Answer: No, in fact it could really, really help.) Around Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, others will be coming to you for clarity. Be ready and willing to help, because you’re definitely able. Then you’re liable to be a little more sensitive than usual on Friday and Saturday, so surround yourself with positive people who love you for who you are. Plan an activity that gives you joy, and take notice of the good in life. By Sunday, you’ll be in a great groove.AQUARIUS (Jan. 21 -Feb. 19)Finding happiness will be your goal on Monday. Your own needs will take center stage. Think before you speak on Wednesday. Harsh words could cause a rift in a relationship. The boss may alter your job description when Mars enters your career zone on Thursday. Get ready for a new work situation. Stay away from smooth-talking salespeople on Friday. Read the fine print before signing any financial contracts. You’ll make a new friend on Sunday. This person will be trustworthy.PISCES (Feb. 20-Mar. 20)You’ll be much better able to deal with life’s myriad (and, in many cases, mundane and minuscule) demands at the beginning of the week if you’re proactive about getting centered. Replenish your inner resources so that when an opportunity to make life better comes knocking on Wednesday or Thursday, you’ll be all gussied up and waiting at the door instead of bumming around in your mental PJs. Likewise, on Friday and over the weekend, watch for a situation where you can assert what you believe. You’ll earn their respect -- and possibly make a real connection.

On September 6 in 1915, a prototype tank nicknamed Little Willie rolls off the assembly line in England. Little Willie was far from an overnight success. It weighed 14 tons, got stuck in trenches and crawled over rough terrain at only two miles per hour. However, improvements were made to the original prototype and tanks eventually transformed military battlefields. Tanks rapidly became an important military weapon. During World War II, they played a prominent role across numerous battlefields. More recently, tanks have been essential for desert combat during the conflicts in the Persian Gulf.
