Get Ready for the 2nd Annual Monster Ball

Saturday, 27 October 2007

Following the success of last year’s event, the Windellama P&C Association will be hosting the second annual Monster Ball on Saturday 27 October. For one night only the Hall will be transformed with decorations dark, dangerous and foul befitting a Halloween celebration. Over the next month parents and students will perform miracles with paintbrushes, cardboard and glue, creating horrible hairy spiders, gravestones and other revolting scenery to help set the tone for the night. There’ll be entertainment, music and plenty of prizes for all ages.

Mark the date in your diary and start planning your costume for the evening.

The Windellama Garden Club Fund Raiser for Cancer - the members of the club held their fund raiser at the home of Beryl Kremer again this year, the theme of the day being bush dress and tucker. Camp oven stews and soup were served along with damper and cockeys joy for $5, and was very popular. It was the ideal theme for Beryl’s garden and out-door kitchen. Our auctioneer Graham Welsh and his offsider Justin, who donated their time, caused a lot of laughter and managed to make everyone dig deep into their pockets for our cake auction, even selling some of Beryl’s rocks from her garden. We wish to thank them for their contribution to our day, also Neville & Jenny for the music by “Animal” which everyone enjoys so much, and which they do free of charge for cancer appeals. We also sincerely thank those people who came and supported us and spent so generously, and also those people who donated money or items to be auctioned, unfortunately we cannot name them all individually, but thank you. We raised $1950 to send to the Cancer Council this year. Thank you to those who came.

The next meeting of the Windellama Garden Club will be held on Wednesday 5th September at Dianne James’ home

Don’t forget our Trivia and seafood night on Saturday 15th September, meal commences at 6.30pm Cost for the meal and trivia is $20; trivia only $10; bookings essential and need to be made by Monday 10th September. RSVP Colleen on 48445207 or Lynn on 48445029

Windellama P&C Association

Well another season of rugby gone, many thanks to all team members who gave up their time to attend. Sometimes it is quite trying as far as the first aid goes with many different injuries, which sometimes tests our ability. But all in all it is a great learning curve for us all. Now that spring and summer are approaching it’s back down to Pauline Fathers until Christmas. On the SES side of things it’s a big congratula-tions to Irene, Pat and Lena for passing their General Rescue; and to Kevin and Lena for passing their Storm Water course. I was told both courses were long and tiring, so well done to you all.

‘Til next time, stay safe.

WINDELLAMA PROGRESS ASSOCIATION HALL Inc.

Windellama Hall Country Markets

There was a good roll-up of members for the meeting which was held last Monday afternoon.

The area to be paved has been levelled and the bedding sand will be delivered shortly. It will then be all hands on deck to hopefully lay the pavers before the next market day, which will be the Mega Car Boot Sale and Hall Market day in September. We are extremely grateful to all our very generous donors to this project, and hope our community members will be as generous with their time and energy to assist with the laying.

Planning for the Progress stall is well in hand for the September markets and we are still accepting goods for sale to help raise much needed funds. Frances Knights - Secretary
