What do you normally do on

the weekend?

Right now I don’t have any week-

ends because I’m in the final stages in

my MBA; but if I had my weekends, I

would relax with my girlfriends, read a

book, watch TV.

How have you found the experi-

ence working on your MBA?

It’s been a lot of hard work, but at the

same time, I’ve enjoyed it. It has taken

a lot of scheduling and late nights to

be up-to-par at both work and school.

What are you doing your

MBA in?

Marketing, at the Mona School of Busi-

ness and I’m due to finish at the end

of July.

DRINK OF

CHOICE:Martini

What are you looking forward to most once you’re done?Hahaha, the first thing would be to rest! But on a serious note, I’m look-ing forward to using the skills I’ve gar-nered from the experience to make myself an empire.

What was your last great week-end read?My last read was the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy (by E. L. James) and it had me hooked! I read all three books in 72 hours.

What were some of your fa-vourite weekend activities as a child? Some of my favourite memories on weekends were with my parents, heading to shows in the country. Like Reggae Sunsplash, Sumfest, Jazz festi-vals and the Bob Marley TV tribute. My father is a musician and we would drive down as a family and go to dif-ferent hotels. As a child, I would get to run around at the stage shows and look about, in awe of the production and the various personalities.

Weekend drink of choice?Martinis and Apple vodka. I’m not re-ally a drinker, so I have to drink sweet drinks.

Four steps to healthy weekend eating

+

Summer may be waning but that does not mean your resolve for a summer body has to. Being healthy should not be relegated to a specific season; it’s a lifestyle choice. The rigidity of a Monday-to-Friday schedule often makes it easier for people to stick to a healthy diet; it’s when the weekend comes that all hell breaks loose. But, with these tips from Selena DeLeon, certified personal trainer, weight loss consultant and owner of Core Studios Fitness Centre, keeping track on the weekend just got easier.

1. Count the weekend off in quarters. Begin on Friday evening after work, which is when we mentally start to let go. Keep an eating score: 1-5 with 1 being ‘binge’, 2 ‘disappointed your-self but not detrimental’, 3 ‘went over your limit’, 4 ‘one bite or taste of bad food/drink’ and 5 being ‘super health conscious’.

Score yourself in intervals - at 12 noon Saturday, at 6pm and at midnight, then go on into Sunday.

2. Do some exercise in the mornings. It sets your body up for a healthy cycle and boosts your energy, food intake time-line and ups your water intake.

4. Substitute carbs for alcohol. Depending on how much alcohol you drink, give up two carbs for each drink you have.

3. Limit alcohol by chas-ing with soda water and drink one full bottle of water in between alco-holic drinks
