The Women’s Motive?

The major reason for this march is that the poor women of Paris felt that the price of the bread is too high to afford, they

just wanted to feed themselves and their families.

The Hungry Woman demanded bread and food for their families and the departure of the King and Queen back to the

Capital, Paris in the Tuileries Palace.

women still felt that the price of the bread is high and they felt that there is a lot of shortage of bread

Mob violence began to take to the streets, even one time killing a baker who raised his prices.

How did they do it?

Early in the morning of October 5, 1789, a large group of French women came together in the central marketplace of Paris. As they marched through the streets, more women left their homes and joined in the march. The women were armed with pitch forks, muskets, pikes, swords, crowbars, and scythes. Once the women reached Versailles they stormed through the gates and demanded bread.

The woman stormed into the gates, destroyed everything in their path. And the angry crowd killed two Royal bodyguards, decapitating them and sticking their heads on pikes.

They demanded to see "the Baker," "the Baker's wife," and "the Baker's boy".
