Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP)

• WPT Experiment– Following up on discussions during the 2007

JUSTSAP conference, members of the Space Energy Project team implemented a “first of a kind” wireless power transmission experiment in 2008

– Sponsored by Discovery Communications for “Project Earth”

– Project accomplished solar-powered WPT over a distance of more than 100 km (60 miles) in May 2008

• IAA Study Group– The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) is

conducting the first international study of solar energy from space

– Members of the Space Energy Project Team are leading this effort

– The SE Project session this year will be the venue for a working meeting of the IAA study group

• Our registration numbers are stable.

• JUSTSAP and PISCES are getting to be household words in the space community.

• Last year’s combined PISCES/JUSTSAP attendance was >150, the largest in history.

• JUSTSAP continues to be an important organization for adding value to global space activities, from LEO to Human Exploration of the Moon and beyond.

• But we need viable projects!
