ZI SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARDS
District Service Committee reminds all clubs in District 4 that now is the time to
apply for the Zonta International SERVICE RECOGNITION AWARDS for the 2014-
2016 biennium.
The link for guidelines and application form for the award is below:

There will be two categories of projects to be considered for the Awards:
Service projects that empower women and girls in general to achieve equal rights
and to secure their access to all legal, political, economic, educational, health and
professional resources; and
Service projects focusing on prevention of the root causes of violence against
women and girls through education.
The awards may be given to projects sponsored by a Zonta club in good standing.
A Zonta club may nominate up to two (2) projects, one project in each category.
Projects may be new projects this biennium or may have commenced in the past
and are still on-going this biennium. They must take into account the benefits they
have given to the women or girls in the local community and the visibility and
credibility they have provided to Zonta.
The Club projects that won at previous Conventions cannot be resubmitted.
The district evaluating committee will base its decision on the following criteria:
a. the benefit it has given to the women and/or girls in the local community;
b. the visibility and credibility to Zonta International created by the project; and
c. the sustainability of the project.
The deadline for clubs to submit their nominations to the Governor is December
29 but we are encouraging you to submit by December 7, 2015.
If you have questions to not hesitate to contact Judy Powers at

DISTRICT 4 BIRTHING KITS SERVICE PROJECT
The Zonta clubs in District 4 Ontario initiated a partnership with World Vision Canada to ship and distribute their Birthing Kits in the field to communities in need worldwide. District Board members Claire Wallace and Holly Anderson mobilized this wonderful collaboration and the first drop of close to 4300 birthing kits to World Vision on Thursday, November 26, 2015.
President Haydee Kocchiu joined the visit to meet the World Vision representatives, drop 100 kits from our Club and tour the World Vision facility. In attendance from D4 Board were: Governor Joanne, Service Chair: Holly Anderson and incoming A2 Director Claire Wallace. Other clubs representatives in attendance were: Guelph and Cambridge: Christine Hass Kitchener-Waterloo: Joanne Raymond, Joan Westcott, Muriel Omand-Naylor Oakville: Julia Bowser, Claire Wallace Toronto: Holly Anderson

Governor Joanne Raymond wrote of the visit: ‘What a great morning! All should be proud of the roles that you and your club members played in making this happen. Many thanks to Claire and Holly as well for helping to organize the delivery. (no Pun on the words) On behalf of the District – Many thanks! Joanne Holly Anderson, Service Co-chair, Zonta District 4 wrote to our World Vision visit hosts: ‘Thank you so much meeting with us on Thursday and accepting the birthing kits. We are thrilled and grateful that your organization will accept the kits, ship and ensure that they are appropriately implemented. It is the final and most important step in the birthing kit project for us. We were amazed with your staff and the research that they have done by contacting the World Vision organization in Australia who have also been working with Zonta there. This for us completes the circle of service for Zonta as an international organization: the kit project was initiated in Australia.’
