June/July News“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in

him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are

always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7 - 8

We are a Christian-based parent-run co-op. We meet 10 weeks from Sept - Nov and 10 weeks from Jan - April on Thursday afternoons on Pitney Road in Lancaster. We offer nursery and preschool. Grades K-6 have choir, gym and an elective each semester. Grades 7 and up have 2 electives each semester and Music/Choir. Electives include academic classes and non-academic. Our parents volunteer to teach the classes and fill helper positions. We rely on parent participation and offer activities that parents are willing to organize and staff. This keeps our costs low and affordable for all family sizes and incomes.

Membership fee for 2013/2014 school year - $90 a family.Membership fee includes ALL classes for ALL of your children for both semesters. Some classes may require that you purchase certain books or pay additional fees to cover needed supplies but we always try to offer a “no-additional cost” class option for every period and age group. There is a waiting list.

THE WORLD IS COMING TO YOU!! Share Your Home, Life, Culture And Love With An International Student This Summer

Students from SPAIN and JAPAN are coming to Lancaster this summer and want to experience American culture by living with a host family ~ YOUR family! Host families can be married or single, big or small, with or without children... the only requirement is a willingness to open your home and heart and care for a student as if they were your own. You really can make the world a smaller place.

SPANISH GROUP: June 29th to July 27th. This is a group of boys and girls from northern Spain who arrive with superior English levels and are excited to spend lots of time with their host families and to make themselves a part

of the family! Spanish students tend to be fun, outgoing, active and participatory. There are two meeting locations for this group (Lititz and Lancaster) - you choose which one works best for your family.

JAPANESE GROUP: July 15th to August 4. This is a sweet, all-girls group from the Tokyo area who desires to improve their English and learn about American culture firsthand by living and sharing with a host family. The group has daily activities M-F and will meet at a central location in Lancaster (near Costco).

If you or someone you know would like more information about hosting for one (or both!) of these groups, please contact:

Katy Shields, AHLI Group Director(717) 538-6399 [email protected]

These local public libraries and PNC Foundation have teamed up to help children learn basic financial concepts. Parents and caregivers can see how easy it is to introduce financial concepts and skills into their everyday routines and experiences with their very young children. These local libraries have children’s books & resources about understanding that people, things and money have value; the difference between needs and wants; learn-ing to wait; making good choices; and that saving, spending and sharing are important things to do with money. To learn more visit www.pncgrowupgreat.com. These library events support the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood.
