Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development
Programme (CAADP)
Background
CAADP is a strategic framework agreed upon by NEPAD Heads of State to guide agricultural development
Objective is to commit 10% of national budgets to agriculture and attain an average annual growth rate of 6%
Reduce poverty by 50% by 2015.
The four pillars of CAADP
1. Extending area under sustainable land management and reliable water control systems
2. Improving rural infrastructure and trade related capacities for market access
3. Increasing food supply and reducing hunger
4. Agriculture research , technology dissemination and adoption
