FIRST YEAR OF CORRESPONDENCE : 2012-2013

September – written and oral test in order to select the children

October – Me & My Family - the kids introduce themselves ( name, age, how tall they are, colour of eyes, which their favourite clothes are), describe the members of their families ( including pictures) , write about their jobs, say something about the town / city they live in, describe

their house and finally mention who their best friend is and what makes him / her special; then they write about activities they usually do together They end their message in a friendly way and can attach photos or films in their mail.

November – My Hobbies and Favourite Activities – the children write about their hobbies and they must make a poster to illustrate them; they draw only what they think it is essential about them, in order to make the poster look like an advertisment.The final image will resembrle the ads for different products, but will reflect the movement or the action. The poster can be drawn, painted or made of different materials.The children make up a slogan which they put on their poster;it must be short, concise powerful.Then they present the poster to their colleagues.Finally they make a photo report of their presentation and send it to their penpals. The pieces of information they send (regarding their hobbies) have to include: - when they do it ( how many times a week, how many hours a day,etc.) - where they do it ( indoors/ outdoors) - if it is dangerous and why - if they need a special suit and whether they do, they have to describe it - if it is a cheap or expensive hobby - who their trainer is and how he/she looks like - if they practise in a team

December – Winter Activities and Traditions –the children write about

winter activities and traditions and send pictures while taking part into some of them

January – My School – the children send messages about their school, subjects they study, teachers, rules, etc.They send photos of the schools.They have to fill in the information, then they are going to interview their favourite teacher and finally make a poster that illustrates it.

February – Famous Legends and Stories about the Importance And Role of Love All Over the World

- the kids write about some of their favourite stories and legends where love plays an important

role.They have to show which character can be his/her Valentine on 14th February and give reasons. The kids make up a poster regarding this celebration and some essential information about the story/legend they choose.Finally they take pictures of their posters and attach them to their mails.

March – March Amulet – History and Tradition – The children send messages about the tradition of wearing the March Amulet in Romania, then they make up amulets and send photos to their friends ; they can also make PowerPoint presentations regarding the history and symbol of this tradition.

April – Eco Day, No Paper Today! – The kids have to think : “Would it be possible for the whole school to go without paper? No photo copying, no reading books,a closed library.” The children came up with inventive ways of not using paper for recording maths and for doing literacy. It made the children think about how much

paper we use.

May – Spring Festivals – The children exchange messages about spring festivals they know and maybe they took part into.(add pictures, movies,etc.) They mention the date, the place they take place, symbols

and traditions they carry on.

June – My Town – the kids describe their town and send photos to their friends; they complete the grid with the necessary information.

SECOND YEAR OF CORRESPONDENCE : 2013-1014

September – European Language Day – the Importance – The children express their of the Foreign Languages - thoughts and feelings about learning foreign languages. They make posters and write a short poem or composition in their own language whose translation in English they have to send with the picture of the poster ; if they can sing nicely, they can record a song and send it to his/her penpal

October – Halloween Traditions I Like Most - The kids write about their favourite traditions and send photos from their Halloween Carnivals at school.They also make up a poster/banner where they include their photos which show the

special way they would like to dress.

November – Autumn Activities and Celebrations – The children write about the activities people usually perform during autumn and British or American celebrations they know for this season ; then they mention about autumn festivals and traditions in their own country / town.They make a PowerPoint Presentations that includes all

information and essential photos.

December – My Best Winter Holiday – The kids describe, in a short composition, their nicest and unforgettable winter holiday.They can attach photos, too.

January – My Pet or My Favourite Animal – The children describe their pets or if they do not have one,they write about their favourite animal. (add pictures).They must write about its size, colours, age, the way they take care of them, the name of the pet,how and when they got it.

February – Books and Movies I like – The kids talk about the books and movies they like and give reasons. When talking about a movie,they send a video of it to their penpal.

When it’s about a book, they describe their favourite character. Then the child imagine he/she’s that character and describe how he/she would act. In what way the subject of the story would change? They give reasons.The kids write their own stories and give them a title.

March – My Tree – The children write about a tree they plant, describe it,send pictures with it, say if it has healing powers.Complete the table:

Name at least two singers or bands and two titles of songs and their singers.

May – Famous Historical Events – Each kid chooses two famous events from the history of his/her country and describes it. Then the child sends pictures and short videos /songs about those events.They make a short description of the events in order to explain what happened, they have to consider the social, economical and political aspects.

They give their opinion on the importance of the two events.The kids add videos, photos and films, too.

June - World Environment Day (WED) – The children pick up an ecological theme they like ( endangered animals/ recycle,reuse and reduce/ pollution / renewable energy, etc.) They write their opinins about that theme and describe it. Then they make up a toy that can use wind power, solar power or hydroelectric power.After that they send pictures of the toys and describe them in a few words.
