Creative Typography

Ideas for font style and layout:

Text has a distressed effect and the words are split vertically down the page.

Hand written:

Hand written text using a number of different creative styles

Grungy print:

Grungy print style text that fills the page and contains deliberate mistakes which have been corrected as a feature.

Grungy stencil:

Letters have been stenciled over an ink rolled background. Letters missing to attract attention but it is still understandable.

Mixed effect:

A range of letters of different styles have been used to create interest in this composition.

Print blended:

Over-printed and blended type objects and images draw the attention and create an attractive composition. Be clear if using this technique.

Type from shapes and objects:

Letters have been formed by the use of a range of graphical objects by arranging them and removing areas to create shape.

Print on mixed media:

Text has been printed onto a number of paper and card types. This could be done either traditionally or digitally.

3D – 2D mix:

A mixture of 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional objects have been created to give this typographic object depth and punch.

Digitally designed:

This image has been created digitally using an image superimposed onto a shape and various artistic techniques used to decorate the lettering.

Type & image/graphic mix:

Typographic objects have been overlaid with graphics or images then each letter has been placed in its own box to aid reading.

Overlapped colour mix:

Coloured words have been overlaid multiply until the text becomes black. The effect has been lessened to the right to create a typographic artwork.

Creative layouts:

The left to right conventions have been broken in an almost doodle type way.

Type from ‘found’ materials:

This type has been created using dried grass bunched together to create the lettering, then photographed.

Building skyline:

This type has been created by taking photographs of shapes created by buildings against the skyline.

Creative digital typography:

This is an example of a typographic artwork created using digital techniques.

Digital typography:This is a number of digital type objects arranges appropriately and then drop shadows added for effect. Brush effects have been used to create the decorative swirls.
