What’s next?

Outlining/Drafting: This stage should include:

- creating a working thesis- this should claim an answer to your driving question and how it

relates to aspects within the novel- this can and should be modified and improved throughout the

process- this should NOT include the name of the novel OR author’s name

- creating and focusing paragraphs- start placing similar pieces of evidence together- create a topic sentence that relates these similarities to the current

working thesis- explain how the evidence supports your claim

- don’t be afraid to write! contrary to popular belief, this should be a first draft of sorts

Revising/Editing:This stage should include:

- working on connections between the thoughts within a paragraph and transitions between paragraphs

- reading the paper aloud to find grammar mistakes and typos- ensuring that each thought relates back to and supports the thesis

- it doesn’t? leave it behind.- properly formatting the header based on MLA format- read. re-read. read again.
