Third Grade News!! Week of October 14-18, 2019 English/Language Arts/Reading Our reading story for this week will be “Soil”. We will be working on using spelling patterns and generalizations in writing words, determining the meaning of unknown words, asking questions to determine understanding, and applying word analysis skills in decoding words. Students will receive a homework sheet that will consist of a reading passage and questions to answer nightly. There will also be grammar and vocabulary items. Homework should be completed nightly and turned in on Friday. In addition to the written homework, students should read 15 minutes every night. Please have students study vocabulary words nightly. Current Vocabulary Words: Ingredients- items that make up other things Nutrients- substances that plants and animals need to live Bacteria- tiny organisms or living things Diagram- a drawing that shows relationships Conserve- take good care of Erosion- weathering away of soil by rain and water Fertilize- adding chemicals [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] Social Studies and Science This week we will finish our unit in Science on the habitats, plants and animals (S3L1) found within the geographic regions of Georgia. Science Habitat Projects and the end of unit assessment on Georgia Regions and Habitats will be due and given on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. Students will return to Social Studies: We will be learning how to locate major topographical features on a physical map of the United States and locating and describing the equator, prime meridian, and lines of latitude and longitude on a globe. [email protected] Math This week we will continue working on Unit 2: The Relationship between Multiplication and Division. This week we are working on equally sharing whole numbers. We have already begun to skip count by 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s and 10s. We will have a quiz over those multiplication facts this week. Academic Vocabulary 1. Week of October 14-18, 2019

English/Language Arts/ReadingOur reading story for this week will be “Soil”. We will be working on using spelling patterns and generalizations in writing

words, determining the meaning of unknown words, asking questions to determine understanding, and applying word analysis

Inglés / Artes del lenguaje / LecturaNuestra historia de lectura para esta semana será "Suelo". Estaremos trabajando en el uso de patrones de ortografía y generalizaciones al

escribir palabras, determinar el significado de palabras desconocidas, hacer preguntas para determinar la comprensión y aplicar habilidades

de análisis de palabras para decodificar palabras. Los estudiantes recibirán una hoja de tarea que consistirá en un pasaje de lectura y

preguntas para responder todas las noches. También habrá elementos de gramática y vocabulario. La tarea debe completarse todas las noches

y entregarse el viernes. Además de la tarea escrita, los estudiantes deben leer 15 minutos todas las noches. Haga que los estudiantes estudien

palabras de vocabulario todas las noches.

miércoles 9 de octubre de 2019.

Los estudiantes regresarán a Estudios Sociales: aprenderemos cómo ubicar las principales

características topográficas en un mapa físico de los Estados Unidos y ubicaremos y describiremos el ecuador, el meridiano principal y las líneas de
