PICTURES OF LOVED ONES WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY MAY BE

BROUGHT TO BOTH CHURCHS TO BE DISPLAYED THROUGHOUT

NOVEMBER AS WE HONOR OUR DECEASED

COAT DRIVE 2018

A special thanks to St. James Parish for holding the 8th annual Mason Coat

Drive. It is an excellent location and Cave Hall is perfect for the event. We

gave away over 700 coats. We have always focused our attention on

children, but have also offered many adults a warm coat for this winter.

We also handed out many hundreds of gloves, hats, scarves, and snow

pants.

The Coat Drive is definitely an ecumenical event with six churches

working along with us. This is also a Mason community effort with the three

elementary schools, and the middle school collecting coats for us.

We have businesses like A&W involved in our success, who support us by

holding a fundraiser which pays for our flyers. Our flyers are given out to

each child in Mason schools. Both the Women's Club and Knights of Co-

lumbus reached out and helped us purchase brand new coats. We are

also very appreciative of the use a storage facility on John and Marie

Black’s property. Like always, Charli Heiler has been exceptionally helpful

loading up his truck with coats. So many volunteers from all of the

churches work at sorting of coats and the actual event.

Our Christian Service Commission was established to promote Christian

Service among the people of St. James Parish and the surrounding

community. The Coat Drive is a special Christian service to our communi-

ty. Since we have been the hosts of this event for 8 years, the Mason com-

munity has become aware of the good works that come out of St. James

Parish.

a few recipes but could use a lot more. If you have some

Gluten Free recipes, they would be most welcome. It’s a

busy time of year, but this is truly a worth while project.

Please consider donating a recipe. Please write legibly and

be sure to sign your name. There are recipe boxes at both

Parishes. Questions? Contact Pam Prokop at 517.775.6309 or

[email protected].

Thank you for letting us include your recipes!

THE 30TH ANNUAL COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER

Sponsored by Kiwanis and Mason Area Churches, will be held on

Thursday, November 22nd (Thanksgiving) at the First United Methodist

Church in Mason. Serving will be from noon to 1:00 pm. Donations of $3

per person or $7 per family are requested (if you are able.) Reservations

can be made by calling Elaine Ferris at 517.676.4175 ([email protected]) or

the church at 517.76.9449. If lunch is needed for a shut-in and family,

please let them know ahead of time and they will have it ready for you.

What does it mean when the Commentator at

Mass says, now please find a prayer partner, intro-

duce yourself, & see if there is something you can

pray about for them? Wait...I'm supposed to say

more than Hello or Good Morning?? YES! At every Mass we encourage

you to find at least one person to start praying for. It's simple! You can say:

Hi my name is Kusi, what can I pray about for you today? Yup, that's it!

Then just remember to include this request in your prayers while at Mass

and you can even continue praying for them throughout the week. We

can all use some extra prayers said for us!

Please remember in your prayers those

who have passed away recently:

Elmer Paul Taylor, Jr, father of

Michelle Sherwood

Children's Liturgy during the 10:30 am Mass at St. James is in full swing and

is very popular with our youngest parishioners. The groups have been

quite large, so if you notice that there is more adult or teen help needed,

please follow the group when they are dismissed and lend a hand! The

lead catechist will have activities that are planned, so your help is

needed with getting supplies and keeping children on task.

The St. James Sunday faith formation children will meet Sunday, 11th and

18th. The St. James Wednesday children will meet on, 14th, and 28th, due to

the Thanksgiving break. Advent begins in December, so watch for news
