THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL TODAY The apparitions of Our Lady to St. Catherine Laboure in 1830 and its message is not bound by time or confined to any period or place in human history. It is as relevant now as it was then for our world is just as troubled today. The message of the Miraculous Medal is the message of the Gospel for all humanity – God’s gospel of Love. As in Cana she invites us to “Do whatever He tells you.” Our Blessed Mother Mary is the evangelizer par excellence. She invites us to wear the medal with confidence and with humility; to be active cooperators and not just passive recipients of grace. She invites us to “come to the foot of the altar” where we can encounter our Lord in the Eucharist and become what we receive,

for the effect and the fullest expression of the worthy reception of the Eucharist is service to our neighbor. Our Holy Fathers from SS. John Paul II and Paul VI emphasized this message and its call to the world, “to build a civilization based on love.” A civilization based on love, justice and respect for each individual person created in the image and likeness of God; to look beyond appearances and to discover each human person’s dignity; to open our hearts to those who are most marginalized, to listen to them and to have them listen to us. This is the mission of all baptized persons: to actively participate in bringing about the Kingdom of God on earth. She tells Sister Catherine not to fear. At the “foot of the altar” we can obtain all the graces we need to strengthen us for this mission. She wants us to be true witnesses and not just passive wearers or distributors of the medal. She gives us a very short prayer to obtain those graces: “O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Let us say this prayer “with confidence and fervor” in all our doubts, fears, and needs. A Plenary indulgence is gained on the day of investiture if the individual is properly disposed. A PACKET containing a novena booklet (novena for 9 days prior to the investiture is optional, but desirable), Miraculous Medal threaded on a blue ribbon, and a card outlining the rules for gaining the plenary indulgence, is ready for pick up in the Parish Office. *Please provide your name, phone number, postal and/or email address as we would like to form a prayer team that we can call upon to pray for certain events such as the national election, or at the request of a member or from someone in the parish who needs prayers. An email address is the quickest way to send a message. Those who have been vested with the Miraculous Medal and guests, please join us for fellowship and a light snack at the Fr. Mikus Hall (north side) after the investiture. Please RSVP at least 3 days before the investiture to the persons named below, so we know more or less how many will be joining us.

To enroll, RSVP, and for further information, please call: Susan Schoenstein, (248) 495-6949 or (248) 652-2856;

Join us as we journey with other men to explore the virtues that made Father Kapaun such an inspiration. Invictus Christus is hosting the Kapaun’s Men Virtue Series during our monthly meetings. We began this journey at our July meeting. The series can be found at (https://formed.org/catholic-programs/5b69ca3c4661d91000f9d01e). Holy Hour of Reparation ∙ Saturday, November 16 A Call to Mary invites you to a Holy hour of Reparation to console Our Lord Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Many have ignored the plea of Our Lady at Fatima. Today as never before in the history of the Church and the world, the offenses committed against God are increasing daily, the sins against God appear to be boundless, comprised of outrages, sacrileges, indifference, denials of His divinity, denials of the true presence, blasphemies, etc… the list goes on and on. But all is not hopeless, there is a solution for the crisis in the Church, and the defiance of the world against God. Let us join Our Most Holy Mother, St. Joseph, all God’s Angels and Saints in a Holy Hour of Consolation and Reparation to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Let us go to Jesus, to receive the peace only He can give to us. He alone has the answers to all our questions and the solutions to all our problems. During the month of November, we will pray especially for the holy souls in purgatory. Come to this special Holy Hour in the Church on Saturday, November 16, from 12:00PM—1:00PM.
