' Twenty-five years a priest i~ a fact most worthy of men-t i on . On I"lay 29 Heverend Father Joseph Dourbonnc.' is, o. ?,1. I.
will celebrate his silver jubilee as a priest . For thclt great occas i on, we would have liked to have with us our missionary neighbours from the South . But in the North cot.lll1Unications are easier in Harch than in r'lay , that i s the reason we had chosen i'larch 19 , Reverend Father Bourbonnais' patronal feast day , for those celebrations . But as unfavorable weather deceived our hopes , the feas t was a simple and intimate one .
W~ take the opportunity to mention that Fathbr Bourbonnais ' Missionary career is used to such disappointments . For example , the last time Father saw his venerable nother was at the time of h:;"s ordination . He ''\Tas still a young pribst when thf.- nelllS of her death reached hiw - (l full month after it had occurred -.
On the evening of l"Iarch 18, the usual ut. J ·oseph' s feast concert took a special meaning . Every play and song was centered- around the person of our belov ed Superio r . h t the end of the concert ., a, rich spiritual bOW"lUet

LENTEN SE.IiSON
Ash Wednesday , February 23, was the first day of Lent . On that day our foreheads were springkl ed with a bit of ashes to remind us that I1 Dust thou art , and into dust thou shalt i~eturn ; r . If you stop and think for just a while ~ach day about the cruel sufferings which Jesus had to bear · for us - His sweat of blood, the awful scourging, crowning with thorns and cruc ifixion - it will not be hard for you to make many little sacrifices to prove that you do love Him too .
ere are little things that all can make: Pray well, obey, give up something, be patient, go to mass often, do not complain . Make up your mind that when Easter morning comes , you will have as nany or more sacrifices than anyone of your conpanions to offer to Our Ilisen Lord .
On December 22 we all received Chr i stmas gifts . Oh t how happy we were l! !
Little Pio Janvi~r, adressed as ·Baby Jesus, gave out the surprise parcels . In mine I found a pretty Christmas card , a pencil, a whi stle, and a pink ribbon .
Thank you, dear Srs . Laforest and Levesque, and kind little friends of Brocket for these gifts . Nay God reward you for your great charity .
- - Nanv thanks also to our kind Sr . Superio~ Gamache who , on the same day, gave us honey- sweet candy .
May God lavish upon you his choice blessings, dear Sr . Superior .

Neilson, and the auspic es of the Departoent of hgriculture at Regina , La Loche settlement i s prosented with a lIvllole set of fnrming r.lachinery, l'lame ly: c:.. Ford tractor, a cultivator , a r1'cmdom Disc , a tllm- i'urrow plow , a breaking plow , five harro"Vvs , and a rubber- tired lIJClgon .
You , people of La loohe are indeed very lucl~y for this is all done be cause these gentlemen beleive tllat many big gard ,ns are ne~ded by you here, and they have sent the machinery t o your Conservation Officer to work your gardens for you in the Spring .
Last year, many of you found out how good your Conservation Officer's vegetables were, and you wanted oore .
Now you can grow theM yourselves just as easy as your COllserva tion Officer if you vVClnt to . He is willing to sh()1;[ :rou and tell you how to do it .
18 \ With the machinery, he hopes to work your gardens f or you, but he will expect work from 'each man be ~ fore he doe s your earden . He cannot work your garden f or nothing . The work you will do f or him will be the cle&ring of brush by the large garde n t o muke it bigger . You are many pe opl e here in La Loche , and a much bigge r garden . is needed to have enough vegetables for everyone for all winter . .
Your Conservation Officer would also like all trappers to put out their camp fires this Spring, as you do not want your nice gr een country to burn now .
To be able t o do lots of work on gardens this Spring, . we must not have one fire . bve rybody pl ease , be ca reful with fires l
