Research about various animals using text/web sources. Students will then prioritise the information in order to
produce a draft script. Students will be expected to demonstrate teamwork, delegating and assigning roles within
the group in order to produce a wildlife documentary. Students will also learn how to use multimedia tools
effectively to produce a high quality video to be uploaded to GLG/blog.. There are also multiple paths that
teachers/students can take to extend the project.
Objectives
Movie Maker, Blog, Software
Description Following on from a school visit to a wildlife reserve/zoo, students are to produce an online catalogue about the
animals that are found in a given environment, as well as the historical, cultural and ecological importance of
establishing Wildlife Reserves and Zoos. Students could then use the information found on the website, and will
splice segments of online clips with their own footage/pictures to produce a short (2mins) wildlife documentary
about some of the species found in the habitat.

Teacher and School Information
Jumeirah College is an International School teaching the UK National
Curriculum. There are around 1000 students aged 11-18. The intake is of a mixed
ability, and classes in science are organized in ability streams from Year 9.
The Teachers come from various scientific backgrounds with many years of
experience. In order to teach the project, staff merely need a briefing in the use
of blogging and moviemaker
