From the Grapevine: On Sunday morning, December 7, I will be introducing the church to “Five Life Changing Commitments” and I want to encourage all of our members to be present for this very important worship service. In January of 2015 we will all have the opportunity to dedicate ourselves to one or more of these “Five Life Changing Commitments.” The reason we are introducing them on December 7th is to give all of us an opportunity to learn about and pray about which commitments we need to make so that when January rolls around we will be prepared to follow through. As we read the New Testament we constantly see Jesus calling people to make a life changing commitment by inviting them to “follow Me.” Jesus also encouraged them to consider the cost of such a commitment before making it. We too need to consider the cost of making “Five Life Changing Commitments.” And I assure you, there will be a cost. Jesus said in Luke 14:28-30 (NASB95), “For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’” The good news is that making and then honoring our commitments to Christ produces a wonderful outcome. What one of us would not like to join Paul one day in saying, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 (NASB95)? Please join us Sunday morning, December 7, at 8:15 or 11:00 AM for “Five Life Changing Commitments.” I am convinced that God is going to do some amazing things in our lives in 2015. Don’t miss out.

please see Angie O’Steen ASAP!!! —————————————————————— This coming up Friday, Nov. 28, we have a group of 18 going to the Operation Christmas Child processing center. I always enjoy participating, shopping, packing and going to the processing center with OCC. But this year seems almost different. The individual kids that are going to get these boxes are strongly on my mind and heart. We always like to think about the fact that God knows our name.. He KNOWS me...a sinner… a nobody, but He still wants to know everything about me. BUT, you know what, He KNOWS these kids, too. I may never know who got these shoeboxes, but God is there when they open it. He KNOWS their name. HE KNOWS their needs. Really, it is not about ME at all. It is about ONE child, somewhere in the world, and a GREAT, BIG, AMAZING GOD!!! I think that is what makes me view toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, soap, toys, pencils, crayons, hair bows, and even candy in a different light. These shoeboxes are to Glorify God! We do that and God handles the rest.
Ms. Diane
