Friendsgiving Feast
Happy Friendsgiving! We wanted to give thanks to all of the friends we have
because of the Mercedes Benz Club of America. Three Rivers Section is a
great group of family and friends all brought together over the love of these
German machines. Members enjoyed an amazing brunch buffet in the
former Studebaker Family Mansion now known as Tippecanoe Place. Built in
1889, it was the residence of Clement Studebaker, a co-founder of the
Studebaker vehicle manufacturing firm. It was a real treat to walk the halls
of this automotive legend’s private residence and take in all the history of
the mansion.
NE Indiana Wine Tour
Twelve members of the Three
Rivers Section attended the MBCA
North Eastern Indiana Wine Tour. It
was a great fall afternoon driving
our Mercedes Benzes on back
county roads of Steuben County,
Indiana and sampling some local
wines. Then we ended the day with
an outstanding dinner with club
members at Caruso’s Italian
Restaurant. The staff was great.
Thanks for a great evening.
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
By Jason Bogart
As 2018 is nearing the end, it’s the time of year for giving Thanks!
I personally want to do that now!
I want to thank all the members who attend all the events and make the
Three Rivers Section what it is. We have one final event filled with holiday
cheer. I will see all of you who signed up for our annual Christmas party on
December 1st. Don’t forget that we will be holding our annual elections for
the Three Rivers Board members. If you’re interested in getting involved now
is the time to make it known. Please let me or Vice President Darrell Post
know.
Soon, the Three Rivers board members will be meeting to plan out the events
for 2019. We have a couple things in the works right now and need to get
them secured for the correct dates. We will get an updated list of events in
the next newsletter. If you have suggestions, please e-mail them to our event
coordinators, Lisa Long or Julie Bruggner.
I know you all see the current advertisements from the vendors in the
newsletter. We have a new supporter of the club. I would like to welcome
Fort Wayne Wheel Repair. I have personally used their service to fix a couple
of bent wheels. Indiana potholes are not good for 20-inch rims and low-
profile tires. I would also like to thank the continued support of our section
from Glenbrook Collision Center, a certified Mercedes Benz repair facility,
Werner’s Garage & Derek MotorCar Co. Thank you for continuing to support
the club with your advertisement.
Annual Board Meeting November 10, 2018
By Julie Bruggner
The Nashville Section hosted the 2018 National Board Meeting this year on
November 10. Elected to 2 year terms by the membership as Directors at
Large were Julie Bruggner, Cliff Reyle, Ernie Fancy and Masood Kahn. At
the meeting, Gene Jurick was re-elected as President, Steve Ross retained
his position as Vice-President, Julie Bruggner remains Treasurer, and Cliff
Reyle was elected as Secretary for the next year. Rodd Masteller is the
new Regional Director for the Great Lakes Region and we look forward to
seeing him at one of our events this coming year. All of your officers and
Board members are dedicated to helping the club, and the sections, grow.
We are all here to help, however we can.
I want to also personally thank all who have donated to our local Toys for
Tots. I delivered the toys to the local Marine Toys For Tots Chapter this
past Saturday. Sunny, the director, was extremely grateful for our contin-
ued support. Speaking of continuing support, Sunny has been a volunteer
for eighteen years doing this out of her home and donated real-estate
around the city. It truly is an inspiration speaking to her. A couple years
ago when I became section President, we started the annual Three Rivers
Section Toys for Tots Drive. Each year we organize the toy drive and get
the toys delivered in time so that they can get them out to the supporting
organizations and then distribute the toys to the children for Christmas.
THANK YOU
-JASON
Thank you to all the Three Rivers members who donated to the MBCA, Three Rivers Section, Toys For Tots Annual Toy Drive. Section President Jason & his daughter, I mean "Santa's helpers", did some shopping so we had lots of toys to turn over to the dedicated volunteeers who sort and deliver them to the needy boys and girls. We appreciate all your generous donations.
Treasurer’s Report
By Amy Bogart
2018 was a good year for us. We had a couple of fundraisers, new & continued advertisements and our quarterly rebates. We ended the year in 2017 with a balance of $1,644.83. As of 11-28-2018 we have a projected ending balance of $3,190.007. This amount is projected as we still have outgoing expenses for the annual Christmas Party.
Our fundraising this year was our glassware & clubwear collection. We offered the collection to not only the Three Rivers Section, but we also included the Indianapolis 500 and International Stars Sections. As we streamline the logistics of ordering and shipping, we can easily start including more sections if they would like to participate in our clubwear orders. We are working on a new ghost E-class T shirt for 2019 so keep a look out for that.
We received 4 quarterly rebates this year totaling $675.50, We also received a $250.00 deposit from the National Business Office for hosting a regional event. This year our section included other sections to attend the Day at Auburn and it was a great success. The feedback was very positive.
The club received $1,230.00 in advertising this year with new and renewed advertising.
We made a decision to sell one of the club assets, the blue 10x20 event tent that you have seen used at Auburn. We were able to sell it for $130.00. We purchased the tent back in 2014 for $179.99. Four years of depreciation at a cost to our section of only $49.99 is very good. We took good care of it, but it was showing some wear and we are currently looking for a more durable and heavy-duty tent now that our finances are a little better than in 2014. It does not appear that we will be making a purchase of a new tent in 2018 so it will be addressed in 2019.
