So our 2015 photographic year is underway and we had a good turnout to our 1st meeting last week. There was a good selection of images for our 1st competition. As is the case for our 1st competition each year, the theme was “open” and the judge had the difficult and unenviable task of judging them on the spot, on the night. Congratulations to all the winners and placegetters and I would like to especially congratulate Gail Crennan for her inaugural “1st” place. Well done Gail.

Club eventsHunt & shoot – next Thursday 26 Feb Our first outing for 2015 will be a "Hunt and Shoot" in the city, on the evening of Thursday 26th February. Peter Mollison has volunteered to be the main contact for the night.

Peter and Andrew Haysom’s mobile numbers was sent out in an email dated 16/2/15 by Andrew to all members regarding this event. I will repeat their contact numbers in the body of the email accompanying this newsletter.

For anyone who has not participated in a "Hunt and Shoot", the idea is that you will be given a number of different themes on the night and your assignment is to try to take some photographs to meet

those themes. Photographs will be displayed at a future club meeting (to be advised).Plans for the night are to meet at the top of the front steps of the State Library of Victoria (328 Swanston Street) at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. Then individually or with others, wander the city streets hunting for your themed photos, then meet up again for a drink at 8.30 at the Transport Hotel in Federation Square.

Hope to see some of you there.

Sydney Road Street Festival-Sunday 1 MarchAfter much “toing and froing” it was decided that Parklands would again participate in the annual Sydney Road Street Festival.

Sharon McDowall is co-ordinating the event and she asked that I convey this message to members:

The club is having a stall at the Sydney Rd Festival (Sunday 1st March) to showcase our work. Come and put in a couple of hours at the stall and take some time to do some street photography. It is a colourful and fun festival. Anyone willing to help supervise the stall can enter their available time on the link below. Please also deliver prints for display to my address by the end of Saturday Feb 28th. If I am not home they can be left at the front door behind the fly wire. Sharon’s address and telephone number is provided in the body of the accompanying email.

A few remindersClub facebook page For those of you who are on facebook, the club also has a facebook page. This is a great place for you to socialize, share photos and ideas and basically communicate with your fellow members in between meetings and formal events. To join, just do a search on “Parklands photo club” from your facebook search bar.
