Dear Parents,
The last newsletter of the year!
Before I begin with the end of year wrap
up PLEASE NOTE that a change in the calendar was approved by the Board of Directors. The amended calendar is
attached. Easter Holiday will now begin on April 8th and we return to school on April 23rd. The change in the calendar was
approved in January to give AP students one more week with teachers before their
exams begin on May 8th. I apologize for this late calendar change.
Tomorrow is a 1/2 day with Awards assemblies scheduled in the morning, in the
theatre - MS at 9:00am and HS at 10:00am with a final full school assembly in the Gym from 11:00-11:30.
We have been having ceremonies all week long, mainly celebrating transition from one section of the school to another.
We have had the Grade 12 Graduation
Ceremony and Graduation ball, the Kindergarten, Grade 5 and Grade 8
Transition Ceremonies and all were very nice events.
I would like to thank and congratulate Maeve O'Donovan and her team for a
wonderful graduation ceremony, and congratulations as well to the
Kindergarten, Grade 5 and 8 Teams for their organization of the transition ceremonies.
Congratulations are also due to Ms. Janita Sullivan for her class' staging the Trial of Al T. Wolf. A wonderful way of exploring the judicial system and democratic governance.
Finally, Congratulations to the 6th Grade English team for the great dramatic
portrayal of Macbeth. A summative assessment for the Grade 6's. The performance was outstanding.
A huge thank you to all staff of ISPS for
another great school year. I think all teachers, TA's, maintenance, Security, HR, Admissions, Accounts personnel of ISPS have done a great job this year and I congratulate them all for their hard work.
For all of those families leaving, we will
miss you and we wish you the very best.
For those of you returning, enjoy the vacation and please remember that we begin school on August 20th.
Enjoy your holidays!

On Monday 25th June, Grade 6 hosted a Disabilities Awareness Mini Exhibition. The mini exhibition was spread out over three rooms and ran from 9.30am to 11.00am.
This was the culmination of the Differently Abled unit they were studying.
Over the course of this unit students were exposed to different types of disabilities, did simulations as well as read novels that gave the perspective of children who live with different disabilities.
For the mini exhibition students raised awareness amongst the ISPS population by teaching them about different disabilities such as
blindness, synesthesia, paralysis, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, dyslexia and bi-polar.
They created presentations to teach visitors to their booth more about their different disabilities including facts, myths and what can be done to help people with those disabilities. They also created pamphlets which were distributed digitally for those who wanted to learn more about the different disabilities.
By far the biggest part of
the mini exhibition were the simulations. Each group created simulations so that visitors to booths could experience what it was like to have that disability.
These simulations were combined with activities for the participants to get a first hand experience of having to complete tasks while having the different disabilities. This made the educational experience interactive and interesting for participants.
On behalf of the outgoing Grade 6 Students, I would like
to thank all who visited the Disabilities Awareness Mini Exhibition.
In her final reflection Valentina Zamuido summed up what she and her peers learned from the unit perfectly.
She said, "People with disabilities are no different to us. They may have trouble when it comes to learning or it may take them a while to development motor skills however that does not mean that they are less intelligent or less pure than someone that is not suffering from a disability they just have a problem that takes a while for them to find a way round."
Disabilities Awareness Mini Exhibition “People with disabilities have abilities too and that is what this course is all about - Making sure that those abilities blossom and shine so that all the dreams you have had can come true. “ -Mary Mcaleese

Project Care
Project Care is a non-profitable organization, which helps transform a school that is in need of repairs each year for the benefit of the students. This year, art stu-dents from ISPS as well as members of NHS had the honor to help out with the volunteers of Project Care to aid in the transformation of the Ascension Anglican Primary School.
Besides actually going out into our community to work on this project we also had numerous fundraising ventures throughout this term from bake sales to garage sales and a very successful coin for change collection drive where we were able to purchase tablets for the students. These fundraising drives involved the entire ISPS school and showed illustrated true community spirit. Good going ISPS.
