WHY THE NEED ? • In Pakistan Male female ratio or percentage of women as compared to

men is 51 % Women & 49 % Men .

• But women have limited opportunities available to them in the wage-

labour market.

• Translating into social and economic dependency of women on men.

• Whereas the amount of women who attend EDUCATION in urban areas

is increasing every day

• Degree level education: Female students outnumber their male

counterparts in degree level education.

• Public Sector: 62% of them are female students while 38% are male

students.

• Private sector: among them 65% are female students, mostly in urban

city centers.

ON THE CONTRARY

• After completion of high education, 75%+ of

these bright outclassed female students get

married or sit at home,

• Do not pursue their professional career due

to social, cultural & family issues.

• This amount to a great national loss, Billions

of Tax payer’s money is invested by state

and parents to get these bright female

students complete their higher studies

EXAMPLE CASE - MEDICAL GRADUATES

• Majority of the medical institutions have female enrolment more than 60%,

• Out of this nearly 75% never work in the field after house jobs.

• The cost Govt has to bear for one Doctor Yearly = Rs 0.75 million,

• Which in 5 year of education

+ expenses during House job turn out to be Rs 5.00 million.

• Rough estimate shows about 2500 Female MBBS/BDS graduates of Public /Public Medical Universities from last 5 years are sitting at home only in metros of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and their outskirts.

• The total lost amount on getting this number of

Healthcare Professionals graduated

by Govt in last 5 years only = Rs 5.00m x 2500 = Rs 12,500 million.

Similar is the situation in all education fields

HOW CAN “ICT” HELP

TO COVER THIS LOSS ?

• Empowering Home based Female Doctors, who are currently sitting home can be brought back in their Medical Knowledge and Practice through Online CME and specially designed short program.

• Transforming them for working as Virtual Backend Doctors while sitting at home.

• Thus creating a new Virtual/Online Female Backend healthcare support officers in Pakistan;

• Using ICT to create a home based work force to act as back end support in the field of healthcare support.

PHASE 1: To start with

Pilot project - main features include

• DUHS to Identify through advertisement such Female Medical

graduates in Karachi, who have passed out in last 3 years from

public/private universities of Karachi.

• Announce commercial Live Virtual Trainings at their Home,

teaching them how to learn using Video Collaboration platform

with Live Interaction with workshops in Karachi.

• Use Print and Electronic media as partner along with Women

empowerment associations and NGOs.

• Awareness on Training of the interested Women, for the Virtual

Healthcare support network;

• On Advertisement, large number of applicants applied

• The suitable candidates initially in first phase came out to be 120 lady doctors

• Conduct online academic training and hands on trainings, with Hands on

practice at Dow University also with partner institutes, including local and

International Donors and NGOs for training & certification, get international

level certifications to these virtual Healthcare professionals.

4. Teach them how to act infront of camera,

6. How to use Virtual learning platform,

9. How to work through Electronic Devices and Electronic Medical Record

session of 2 hours.

PROJECT OUTCOME

• This project, outcomes in synergizing the demands for more Female

Healthcare providers;

• Bringing back the Billion of Investments that was made on getting

such Female doctors educated;

• Coupled with providing training and certification to such home based

educated females as the Virtual Doctors, who are currently sitting idle

doing nothing.

• Enable these Graduate Home based Doctors as part of Main stream

Healthcare arena through use of Latest Cyber technology.

• Train these Home based Medical Graduates to become back end Tele

Doctors or work in evening shifts from their home not only for their

financial empowerment, but also to become Good Mothers and Good

Wives;

• Making new Women Entrepreneurs in Healthcare arena

• Creating gender awareness and sensitivity in ICTs.
