This cidertini is designed more for those with drier tastes

than many of the other options.

The drink uses Ultimat Vodka, which is ultra smooth and clean, and makes a

nice base for the apple and ginger combination. Your favorite vodka is always

an option too! The velvet falernum is the finishing touch that brings everything together.

This is a versatile cocktail and can fit any occasion.

Hi Friends!, All is going well out here in Vegas. Air Force is keeping us busy. Alyson pinned on Major a few months back. I'm still waiting for my line number...hopefully by Dec/Jan I will be a Major. That said, we are on shift work versus being on the road all the time. In turn, we've gotten to do a lot in Vegas and in the surrounding area...lots of concerts and

shows. But I am definitely missing my Philly sports teams out here, though not much to watch with the Phils this year minus the no-hitter last week. Chloe is getting big. She's definitely an independent little girl now, not the little baby she once was. Looks like the family and I will make it back to the East coast for a couple weeks sometime in January - Feb timeframe. Hopefully, I'll be able to stop through New Castle. Hopefully, the gang is still hanging strong at Porto-Fino. I do miss hanging out watching the games and talking with everyone. There is definitely a lack of that type of community thing here in Vegas. Maybe a lot has to do with the fact that people are from all over here versus locals. Hope all is well. Please tell everyone we say hello. Kevin

NC Police Chief Dan Tjaden reported an incident when a tank car train came to a halt in the City for and hour and ten minutes. A huge public safety concern. He and City Administrator Barthel have discussed this with Norfolk-Southern and are working with them on a resolution. A reverse 911 notification system is a possibility to notify citizens in case of an emergency.

The next time we have elections (April) there’ll be new hours at the polls. Pending final approval in Dover, open poll hours for the City of New Castle's elections will revert to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., as requested by the Board of Elections for the City and agreed in a Resolution passed by City Council.

It started “An ordinance by the City Council of the City of New Castle amending the New Castle city code of ordinances to repeal Chapter 130 and to adopt a new Chapter 130; to adopt flood hazard maps, to designate a floodplain administrator, to adopt administrative procedures, and to adopt criteria for development in flood hazard areas, and for other purposes; to provide for applicability; repealer; and an effective date.”

This was the opening of a 31-page ordinance reading that took one hour twenty-one minutes long to deliver. (The law requires new ordinances be read aloud). A thinning (and captured) audience listened to Team Ratchford, Barthel and Losco read the pages of legalese sections, sub sections and definitions, ad nauseam.

The main messaged here is, if you live in the floodplain and don’t have flood insurance, you better consider it now rater than later. The newly revised Federal guidelines and regulations take place February 4, 2015 and will be more costly. Start now and you should complete process just in time.

The new FEEMA maps are available at the City office, 220 Delaware St., for your review and will be online soon. Jeff Bergstrom, City Building Official stands ready to assist residents with concerns.
