Course Bubble Aeration- Grit and Septage -
•Designed by Wright – Pierce Engineers, these
two systems were retrofitted into existing tanks.
•Carlin Construction was the general contractor on the job.
•The Grit System is located in the headworks just after the mechanical screens.
•The Septage Receiving System is in an underground tank adjacent to the headworks of the plant.

The TFA’s are
located right above
the grit screw.
There are 10
TFA1.50 diffusers.
The diffusers create
a rolling action in
the tank to wash
the organics from
the grit particles;
the diffusers are
mounted ~3’ above
the collection zone
allowing the grit to
settle out.

The piping material
for this application
is Schedule 10
316L stainless
steel. This is the
isolation valve
located at the top of
the drop pipe.

This type of
system is a
removable
manifold
configuration
constructed
entirely of
schedule 10
SS. The
Contractor is in
the process of
adjusting the
diffusers to
their correct
alignment.

Hudson Septage
This is a “fixed
mounted” type
configuration.
Total 12 diffusers.
(6) TFA1.50 on each
side.
All angled uniformly
so the air is evenly
distributed.
Orifice plugs are
also used to evenly
distribute the air to
all valves.

316SS) for the
connections within
the stainless steel
systems.
