Carols

Thank you to Miss Beker and all our staff for organising this annual event scheduled for Wednesday 10th Dec, 2014. Our carols night is a great way to welcome the Christmas season. The evening is set to begin at 4.15pm with a sausage sizzle. Please bring your blankets and pillows to sit on so you can listen to the children perform. Unfor-tunately we are growing too big to continue to use the lovely entry near the silver seats.

Year 6 Farewell

This event will be held at Islington Baptist church hall on Thursday the 11th of December and all year 5 and 6 children are invited to attend. The event begins at 5.45pm, with parents invited from 7.30pm, Ms Armstrong is working hard preparing for this very spe-cial night for our students. All the children are asked to wear smart casual and appropriate clothes; the boys need to wear a collared shirt with no inappropriate logos. Girls need to be appropriately dressed with sensible shoes as dancing can cause twisted ankles. Further time and organisation information will be sent home.

Year 6 Uniforms/ Mufti

Year 6 children will be able to wear mufti for the remainder of the year WHEN they donate their uniform to the clothing pool after Wednesday 10th of December. All uniforms can be handed in at the office.

Autographs

I am more than happy for all Yr 6 children to collect their friend’s au-tographs before the end of the year, the only proviso, autographs cannot be collected on any uniform that is being currently worn. Au-tograph bears, books and uniforms brought to school in a plastic bag are all better options. This can be done in the final week of school.

Reports

Our yearly reports will be handed out Monday the 15th of Decem-ber. All teachers have worked extremely hard to ensure that all data entered is a true representation of your child’s learning growth. I am sure that you will be very pleased with the comprehensive assess-ment information and the clear picture of your child’s progress and achievements that these reports contain. Please let us know if multi-ple copies need to be sent home. Don’t hesitate to contact teachers if you need any point clarified.

Outstanding Excursion Payments and School Fees

As we are entering the final few weeks of the 2014 school year I urge all parents to finalise outstanding payments for excursions, photographs, book packs and school fees. Each year, as a school we end up carrying bad debts and then we have difficulty trying to retrieve late payments. At present, the school has covered these costs from our global budget which is affecting our ability to organise other activities. We urgently need to be reimbursed for this amount. Our budget is designed to be shared equally throughout the entire school population.

Principal’s Report

Enrolments 2015 To enable us to correctly estimate enrolments and staff the school appropriately for 2015, I need all parents enrolling children K-6 to complete enrolment forms and leave their details at the office ASAP. Please let me know of any neighbours and friends, who may not have children already at this school but will have school age children for 2015, we can then contact them and in-clude them on our numbers for next year. Thank you to all the parents who are promoting our school in such a positive way and encouraging all local families to enrol in their local school.

Mayfield Swimming Pool

I would like to encourage all schools to extend the Newcastle Premiers Swimming Club in-

vitation to students and their parents. We are lucky to have a family orientated swimming

club that encourages and supports its young members.

After two weeks of successful swimming lessons provided by the DEC we’ve been contact-ed by a large amount of parents interested in further swimming lessons. As a result Michelle has provided information about Lane 4 Aquatics at the bottom of her email. I just have to make one amendment: the email to contact our booking register is [email protected]. Leading into summer I encourage parents to get their children confident in and around

the water. Swimming lessons and joining our friendly swimming club is a great way they

can provide this in a safe and fun environment.

Unfortunately Mayfield won’t be

starting swimming lessons until

2015. On the other, Lambton Pool

also ran by Lane 4 aquatics has be-

gun and is filling up quickly.
