Situated in Medstead, The Stables is a bespoke collection of 10 detached 4 and 5 bedroom homes. The Stables is located on the outskirts of the village, close to good local amenities and surrounded by beautiful countryside.

Medstead is in the Northern region of East Hampshire. Nearby are the spectacular South Downs, these chalky hills boast miles of unspoilt countryside for all the family to roam and explore. Many footpaths and bridleways lead across the Downs from Winchester to Eastbourne.

The village is steeped in history going back 3000 years. The name ‘Medstead’ has been spelt in many different ways and there are several ideas of how the name originated. One theory is that in feudal times, the village marked a half way point, the ‘mid-stead’, on the road from Farnham to Winchester, a route requently travelled by the King and Bishop.

Established in 1947, The Jane Austen House Museum is a stone’s throw away. This was the author’s home where she was free to write and let her creative flair flourish.

The village of Medstead has an abundance of natural beauty with rolling hills and as one of the county’s highest points there are numerous stunning views. Nearby is the Medstead and Four Mark steam railway which was first opened in 1868. Since then it has been lovingly restored with a period booking office and museum. The heritage railway is part of the Watercress Line Railway and operates for 10 miles between the market towns of Alresford and Alton.

A short walk from The Stables, the village has an excellent range of local amenities including Handy Stores, Post Office, a traditional country pub The Castle of Comfort, the Village Hall and a Grade II listed Church. The Village Hall is used for various activities such as badminton, flower shows, Pilates and hosting the Village Fete. This sporting community has its own cricket and tennis clubs both within the heart of the village.

OUT AND ABOUTThe nearby market town Alton has an array of independent and well known shops. In the Domesday Book, it was noted that Alton was one of the most important market towns. The town has many Grade II listed buildings and has the feel of a very traditional English town. Alton boasts a variety of traditional pubs and a vast selection of restaurants. This prospering community still holds weekly markets with local produce on Tuesdays in the town hall, home produce on Fridays in the Methodist Church Hall and an antiques and vintage fair every third Sunday of the month.

Medstead is perfectly located to enjoy a range of nearby activities and amenities for all the family including a cinema, health centre, tennis club, golf club, gliding club, Holybourne Theatre and The Allen Gallery. Amery Hill School, Alton College and Perins School are less than 6 miles away from The Stables.

The Stables offers great transport links. The A31 is only 2.1 miles away and the M3 (JCT 9) is under 15 miles away. From Alton, the nearest Rail Station offers regular services to London Waterloo making this a perfect location for commuters. The thriving town of Basingstoke is less than 12 miles away and the coastal city of Southampton is less than 26 miles away.

FROM THE M3 Leave the M3 at junction into Basingstoke.

At the Black Dam Roundabout take the first exit onto the A30, Ringway South.

At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the A339 and continue ahead at the next roundabout.

Remain on the A339 for 7 1/2 miles.

Turn right at the crossroads signposted Medstead, Bentworth.

Continue through Bentworth, at the mini roundabout take the first exit.

Continue for 2 miles into Medstead and you will find us situated on the right hand side.

FROM THE A31 SOUTHBOUND Follow the A31 by-passing Alton, at the end of the dual carriageway you will arrive in Four Marks, shortly after turn right onto Watercress Way signposted Medstead.

Follow the road as it bears left onto Red Hill.

Take the next right onto Roe Downs Road signposted Medstead.

Continue past the cricket ground on the right, at the T-junction turn left onto High Street.

Continue into Medstead and turn right onto Church Lane.

Continue for 200 metres and you will find us situated on the left hand side.

FROM THE A31 NORTHBOUND Follow the A31 northbound towards Alton.

As you arrive in Four Marks you will pass a Travelodge on your left.

Continue for ½ mile and turn left onto Lymington Bottom Road signposted Bentworth, Wield, Medstead.

Continue for 1.5 miles, at the T-junction turn left onto High Street.

Continue into Medstead and turn right onto Church Lane.

Continue for 200 metres and you will find us situated on the left hand side.
