Chemistry  &  Mathematics  (PCM)  with  not  less  than  60%  marks  in  PCM.    II)  Students  who  have  appeared  for  10+2  examination,  waiting  for  results  are  eligible  to  apply  &  they  will  qualify  for  admission,  subject  to  their  securing  minimum  180  marks  in  PCM  (60%).

55%  marks  in  final  year  from  a  recognized  university.  Physics  should  be  an  individual  subject  in  one  of  the  years  in  B.  Sc.

year  B.  Sc.  if  they  have  scored  minimum  with  60%  in  PCM  in  Class  XII.  OR  d) B.  E.  /B.  Tech  degree  from  I.I.T.  or  from  a  college  recognized  by  AICTE  

Marks  not  less  than  55%  in  final  year  AND    Minimum  50%  in  English  subject  as  a  separate  subject,  at  either  10th  or  12th  Standard  or  in  Degree,  conducted  by  a  recognized  Board  or  University.

MEDICAL:      Physical  Standards:    

1. Candidates  should  be  healthy  and  physically  fit  for  sea  service  as  per  STCW  95/MS  Medical  rules  2000,  and  all  its  amendments,  as  applicable  to  seafarers.  

2. Candidates  will  have  to  undergo  a  full  medical  checkup  through  our  Panel  Doctor  &  approved  by  D.G.  Shipping.  

3. To  know  more  about  STCW  95/MS  Medical  Rules  2000,  kindly  visit  D.  G.  Shipping  website“www.dgshipping.com".  

 Eyesight:  

1. 6/6  in  each  eye  without  visual  aids.    2. Normal  colour  vision.    3. Candidates  will  have  to  undergo  a  full  eyesight  test  by  a  Company  Medical  Officer  and  or  Eye  

Sight  Test  by  Mercantile  Marine  Department,  Government  of  India  (if  required).      Admission  Procedure:

Important  Information:  Indian  Maritime  University  Computer-­‐based  CET  (online)    

Common  Entrance  Test  (CET)  is  conducted  by  IMU  (Indian  Maritime  University,  Chennai,  Govt.  of  India)  all  over  India.  

  IMU  –  CET  Subjects:  (30  questions  each)  10  +  2  Level:  

   

I.  English  II.  General  Knowledge  III.  Reasoning  Aptitude  IV.  Physics  V.  Mathematics  vi.  Chemistry    Total  3  hours  paper  180  marks  for  all  the  six  subjects  combined.    Candidates   are   requested   to   visit   IMU’s   website   (www.imu.edu.in)   periodically   to   keep   track   of   new  announcements   and   changes   if   any.   GE   Shipping   shall   not   be   responsible   if   any   candidate   is   put   to  hardship  because  he/she  did  not  keep  himself  abreast  of  the  latest  developments.    The  Computer-­‐based  CET  for  IMU’s  UG  programme  is  scheduled  by  IMU  and  will  be  announced  on  their  website.  (Please  note  that  clearing  the  IMU  CET  is  mandatory)      Important  Dates  for  IMU  CET  February  2017  Batch

General  Instructions.  

1. The   Applicants   are   responsible   to   ensure   that   they   fulfil   the   eligibility   criteria,   regarding  educational  qualifications,  MMPE  test,  age  and  eyesight.    

 2. Eligibility  criteria   for  admission   to   the  course  are  as  per   the  guidelines   issued  of   the  Directorate  

General  of  Shipping  and  hence  are  not  changeable.    3. If   any   false   /   incorrect   information   furnished   by   the   Applicant   is   detected   at   any   stage,   his/her  

candidature  will  not  be  considered  and   if   selected,  he  will  be   removed   from  the   training  course  and  course  fees  will  be  forfeited  

 4. Course   fees,   advance   fees,   Examination   fees   once   paid,   will   not   be   refunded,   partly   or  

otherwise,  under  any  circumstances.    5. As  the  applications  are  processed  by  a  computerised  system,  it  is  essential  that  the  application  be  

forwarded  strictly  in  accordance  with  the  prescribed  format.    

6. Duly  filled   in  Application  Form  should  have  one  photograph  pasted  and  Demand  Draft  attached.  Originals/photocopies  of  certificates  etc.  should  not  be  sent  with  the  application  form.    

7. All   fields   in   the   Online   Application   Form   should   be   filled   with   correct   details   and   Application  number  should  be  noted  by  the  candidate  for  all  future  reference.

8. Candidates  should  possess  at  least  Twelve  (12)  recent  passport  size  photographs  (front  view)  and  these   photographs   only   must   be   used   on   Application   Form,   Interview,   Medical   Examination,  training  etc.  Any  change  of  photograph  will  disqualify  the  Candidate.  

 9. Candidates,  at  the  time  of   interview,  will  be  required  to  produce  original  copies  of  proof  of  age,  

Degree  Certificate,  HSC  Certificate  or  equivalent,   SSC  Certificate  or  equivalent,  where  applicable  from  Govt.  recognized  board/universities.

 Note:    

The  Offer  of  admission  for  Pre-­‐Sea  Training  and  Shipboard  Training  by  GES  shall  not  be  considered  as  guarantee   of   employment   on   completion   of   such   training.   However,   in   the   event   of   GES   offering  employment   after   passing   the   Examination,   the   candidate   shall   agree   to   be   bound   to   accept   our  employment  and  serve  on  our  vessels  for  a  period  of  three  years.  This  is  a  requirement  as  per  the  Gazette  Notification  S.O.2132  (E)  issued  on  December  12,  2007  by  Govt.  of  India.
