Demographics Libertae proudly celebrates 35 years of providing gender-specific treatment for women struggling with addictions. The following lists the 2006-2007 results of this treatment. The Halfway House had 60 new admissions and served a total of 75 women. The Family House had 40 new admissions and served a total of 54 women. The average length of stay is 3 to 6 months. We are challenged to address multiple issues within that timeframe: family therapy, social responsibility, and economic self-sufficiency. Residents receive legal consultations from a volunteer attorney while at Libertae. 39 women reported open court cases upon admission; 30 resolved their court cases while in treatment. All women gain job readiness skills and enroll in job skills training at BCOET 70% of residents are dually diagnosed: chemically dependent with mental illness. They receive mental health services and enhance their knowledge of their diagnoses and treatment issues through attendance in the RISE group. Outcomes Clients are visited at 3 months and interviewed at 6, 12 and 24 months after discharge. This year, Libertae Family House celebrated an amazing tenth anniversary. It was time for a hard look at organizational structure and work distribution. We are delighted with the results. We have expanded services to meet an increasingly complicated list of special needs presented by our families. We added a new Operations Manager and have a broader management team, mission driven and competent. Realignment: With guidance from consultant Ms. Susan Rosner, our dedicated board has gone through an intensive process that has produced prodigious results to enable Libertae to meet the challenges of our consumers and our field. Housing: Two years of development of permanent housing for women and children had to be withdrawn due to neighborhood pressures; a contributing factor to the pandemic problem of homelessness. We see this as a temporary set back and are ready for the next opportunity to meet the dire need of housing for women in early recovery with their children. A New Look: For the first time in 35 years, we have changed our colors and logo. We hope it conveys the strength and softness that is emblematic of our approach to treatment. Outcomes: Thanks to Joyce Marks’ hard work we have a new, customized database to strengthen our ability to track outcomes. We are grateful for your continued support and generosity. It is because of your understanding of the disease of chemical dependency and your desire to support recovery that Libertae has enjoyed the success we see in the eyes of every healthy woman and children we serve. Best regards, Dan Moser, President Connie B. Karasow, E.D. Connie B. Karasow, E.D. Dan Moser “When my brother, also suffering from addiction, committed suicide, I hit bottom. Now we have a nice house, and my mom is doing so much better , and I’m back in school. Thank you Libertae!” — A. I am so grateful to the staff who taught me responsibility , and to my sponsor.
