A program that that fulfills the need for increased financial and entrepreneurial education among youth and equips them with the skills and tools necessary success.
Youth Financial Literacy Enabled high school students to plan for their future and achieve financial stability
upon graduation Topics on budgeting, banking, investing, financing for post-secondary education Conducted 8 workshops with 211 students focusing on budgeting, financing for post
-secondary education, and investing Before workshops, 55% did not know what OSAP was, after workshops 90% of
students plan to apply for OSAP and 85% plan to develop a budget plan Projects approved by the Limestone District School Board for the next three years,
allowing for more effective and credible promotion Planning on expanding to two more English-speaking and two more
French-speaking schools next year
Elementary School Entrepreneurship Challenge Conducted 10 informative and interactive workshops for 112 Elementary students Covering topics such as generation of entrepreneurial ideas, feasibility analysis,
segmentation, marketing, basic finance 49% of Elementary students had not heard of entrepreneurship prior to the workshops Implemented an entrepreneurship challenge for the students to showcase their
unique products/services in competition 77% of the students now consider entrepreneurship as a career Expanding to high schools next year
Class for Cash “Providing specialized education to those who lack it”
A program that empowers disadvantaged groups by providing financial education and personal development.
Project Fresh Start Prepared inmates for a smooth transition to an improved life upon release through education on topics such as
financial planning and budgeting, marketing and business planning, investing, and networking
Conducted 14 workshops across 2 minimum security institutions
Expanded workshops to the Pittsburgh Institution for the first time in the project’s history
Worked closely with officers and inmates to ensure that workshops catered to their specific needs and interests
Educated on average 20 inmates per workshop on relevant topics such as developing business plans, job searching and personal finance
86% of participants from the Pittsburgh Institution and 81% of participants from the Frontenac Institution agreed that they would be able to apply the information learned in the workshops
Inspired inmates to create their own business plans for entrepreneurial ventures they can undertake to contribute value to society
One inmates testimonial :”I’ve realized that in life the world is ours. Weeks of their motivational speaking has had an impact on my life. I’ve capitalized and applied the information to my smart goals to further my success being an entrepreneur.”
Expanding into medium security institution to reach a broader audience and half-way houses to provide continued support for released inmates
Development for Disabled People Empowers youth and young adults with learning disabilities through interactive
workshops to gain basic business skills that enable them to reach their full potential
Worked closely with officers and inmates to ensure that workshops catered to their specific needs and interests
Only in its 2nd year, entirely new workshops were developed to impact 20 students from the H’art School of Smiles
Focused on interactive training that helped students develop basic business skills such as how to manage their finances, how to act in a social setting, and how to look for employment
Worked closely with staff to ensure that students were engaged in the workshops and the material was relevant to their needs
Seniors Financial Literacy Worked closely with RBC and the Seniors Association in Kingston to run 4 interactive workshops to educate seniors on
topics ranging from retirement planning to fraud
Enlisted the help of experts, such as financial advisors from RBC and will and estate lawyers, to offer professional resources to seniors
Impacted 48 seniors in the Royale Retirement Home who said the presenters were engaging
Help Hunger Disappear Increased hunger awareness through social media and on-campus information booths
Partnered with Martha’s Table, a local food provider for those with low incomes, and assisted in their operations Collected over 250 pounds of food for Martha’s Table Currently establishing potential partnerships with grocery stores to offer Martha’s Table to purchase food at cost
Chance to Advance “Giving a leg up to those who deserve it”
A program that improves environmental awareness and promotes eco-friendly practices through environmental education and consulting
Environmental Consulting Started 5 new initiatives and connected with 7 partners to develop innovative solutions for local businesses to support and
implement environmental initiatives
Assisting Sustainable Kingston in developing a new revenue growth model and marketing campaign in order to ensure long-term support for their environmental vision
Partnered with CarbonSavings.org, the first Canadian algorithm-based online tool to calculate energy savings from using environmentally friendly products
Provided recommendations to 3 local businesses on how to increase the awareness of environmental sustainability to the public, decrease the businesses waste, and increase operational efficiency
Queen’s Goes Green Created Queen’s first GreenFest, a week-long event on campus to help raise environmental awareness and encourage
sustainable living in the Queen’s community centered on five themes: Energy & Climate, Waste Diversion, Food & Water, Transportation, and Sustainability Education
Impacted over 4000 students during the entire event
Created a social media campaign to teach and motivate students to recycle their clothes and eat local and organic
Organized 2 specific events, the Item Swap, which attracted 268 students, and the Vegetarian Buffet, which attracted over 600 students
Go Green Program “Creating economic opportunity for those who strive for it”
