Solar cell is the beginning

A typical String inverter System

Page 5: To know a microinverter powered by fsp

• Many PV modules (10-20) are connected in series, voltages stacked as a higher DC source(500~1000Vdc).

• Startup, open circuit & MPPT voltages need considered

• Currents must be matched

• DC disconnection device is MUST

• String inverter has 1-2 stringed PV panels as its input

• Central inverter ties multiple strings in parallel

• A string inverter works most efficiently when all the PV panels have the same characteristics and are operating under the same conditions

The String Inverter

A typical microinverter System

Page 7: To know a microinverter powered by fsp

• It is individually connected to one or two PV-modules 250 – 350W; 20 – 60Vdc; 0 – 10A

• Grid ready AC output

• Mounts behind the panel

• Highly integrated plug & play:

- Safety/disconnect

- Transient suppression

- Module-level MPPTs, monitoring

• Be able to harvest the highest possible energy from each module and bring shading, various sunlight angle and module toleranceseffects to a minimum.

The microinverter

What’s the difference

1. In the traditional photovoltaic string converter architecture, all of the solar modules in an array feed energy into a single string inverter

• Reliability, reduce single point of failure form series to parallel

• Efficiency, individual Maximum Power Point Tracking : More power generated, up to 16% (average)

• Saving, reduce the system impact by shadow affect ; lower operation fee

• Silent, good efficiency without fan cooling

• Secure, lower DC voltage to secure your property

• Easy to identified the failure parts and their location

• Scalability for residential, commercial and even a power plant

The Facts about Reliability: MTBF and Lifetime

• MTBF (Mean time between failures) is a statistical predicted time of failure, calculated from the failure rates in stress of the composed components.

MTBF is NOT the same as wear out or lifetime !

-- A MTBF for 300 years means:

-- If you have 300 microinverters, one will likely fail every year.

If you have 20 microinverters, one is likely to fail every 15 years.

• Lifetime or wear out is a value of a device that has stopped to perform its duties within a certain tolerance.

-- A PV module has a 25-year lifetime: at the end of that period,

it is expected to produce 70% power when it was new.
