Created by Congress in 1988 to increase and promote nation’s capacity for international understanding and competitiveness.

In 2014, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Smith the CIBER grant for the fourth time, supporting global enrichment opportunities for students and faculty through 2018 with $1 million.

Smith CIBER is one of 17 CIBERs nationwide.

Smith CIBER serves as a regional and national resource to businesses in Maryland and beyond, as well as students and faculty of Smith and partner institutions.
