BRIAN CLOSES THE GAP WITH A DOUBLE

CHAMPION jockey Brian Hughes rode a double at our December 14 meeting to close the gap on Sean Quinlan to just four points in the 2020-2021 Jockeys’ championship table at Ayr Racecourse.

Brian’s double came courtesy of the Nicky Richards trained Wetlands and Marown and the Greystoke trainer also saddled Nells Son to win the bumper and that treble took Nicky to within a point of Nick Alexander in the trainers’ championship.

Both Wetlands and Marown are owned by Trevor Hemmings who is seven points clear in the Owners Championship from Mr & Mrs Duncan Davidson.
