(NAPSI)—Approximatelyhalf of the pets that end upin shelters in North Americaare euthanized before theyfind a home. That adds upto about 11,000 pets eachday—or about 4 million petsthis year—that will lose theirlives even though themajority are healthy andadoptable.

While these figures mightseem staggering, endingpet homelessness is anachievable goal. Everyonecan be part of the solutionand it starts with adoptingyour next pet.

Many Americans believeadopted pets are some ofthe best companion ani-mals, yet there are manymisconceptions about adop-tion that need to be over-come. PetSmart Charitieshas teamed up with leadingactor Josh Duhamel tolaunch the High-Five for PetAdoption campaign in aneffort to educate the publicabout these misconcep-tions.

My sales approach was to appeal to the customer’s civil spiritand I credit that approach for my obvious success”. “Very good,” the teacher saidand gave her a B+. Little Debbie was next and said she sold magazines. “I made$45.00 and I explained to everybody that magazines would keep then up on currentevents”. “Very good”, the teacher said, and gave her a C. Finally it was little Johnny’sturn. Johnny walked to the front of the room and dumped a box full of cash on theteacher’s deck and said, “There is $2,500.00”. The teacher cried out, “What in theworld were you selling?” He replied, “Toothbrushes.” “How could you possibly sellthat many toothbrushes?” Little Johnny said, “Easy.” I found the busiest corner intown. I set up a Dip and Chip stand and gave everybody who walked by a freesample. They all said the same thing, ‘Hey this tastes like dog crap!’ Then I wouldreply, It is dog crap. Wanna buy a toothbrush? I used the President Obama methodof giving you something really crappie, dressing it up so it looks good, telling youit’s free and then making you pay to get the bad taste out of your mouth.” LittleJohnny got an A+ for his assignment.
