PED SALVADOR, PHD MANAGEMENT. Even as a student of ManuelA. Roxas High School (Canonigo, Paco, Manila, Philippines),Pandacan-born Pedrito “Ped” Salvador is a social sciences wiz. Inthird year, he excelled on Philippine Problems and was awardedHistorian of the Year in fourth year. That’s why upon graduation, weexpected him to specialise in the social sciences. But he surprised usby taking up Chemical Engineering at Mapua Institute of Technology.

Practising chemistry for 15 years, Ped realized finally he’s more of asocial scientist than a physicist who likes people more than particles.He did not hesitate to expand from engineering to management bytaking his Masters in Business Administration at the PhilippineChristian University and Doctorate in Management at the InternationalUniversity Foundation (now International Academy of Managementand Economics).

Dr. Ped is presently Secretary General of the country’s mostprestigious management organization, the Philippine Council ofManagement. This expertise clearly shows in his answers:

1. What is one thing people don’t know about you as a GlobalPinoy?

I have great interests in knowing and understanding the culture ofother nationalities.

2. How did you become a Global Pinoy?

I have had classmates and students in the past from Germany, Thailand, Cambodia, Libya, Guam, Indonesia, Vietnam,Mainland China, South Korea, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Dubai, Australia, Japan and United States. I have also been a MultinationalManager of Swedish Company, Malaysian Company and Taiwanese Company. I was also able to visit some countries inEurope and Asia. I like also reading and watching movies of different countries with sub-titles just to understand theircultures.

3. What’s your best memory of the homeland, the Philippines?

Philippine culture is better compared with other nationalities since even deprived with many things people are still happywith their simple lives. Suicides are rampant with other countries especially Japan and South Korea.

4. What’s your most unforgettable experience as a Global Pinoy?

Tasting and eating the foods of other countries. I like Korean foods.

5. When you missed/miss the Philippines, what did/do you do?

I always turn on my internet, television, and radio so I am aware of what’s happening in the Philippines on real time.

6. What’s your biggest contribution to the homeland as a Global Pinoy?To inform Filipinos not to forget their homeland via internet and continue advocating the goodness in the Filipino positivevalues.

7. Who is the best Global Pinoy for you?

Pinoy OCWs.

8. What’s your aspiration as a Global Pinoy?

The realization that at the end of the day it is still nice and beautiful to live in your beloved country.

9. What’s your dream for the Philippines?

A country where majority of its people shared the fruits of its bounty resources and free from external influences.
