Mientras los dos hermanos mayores se dedicaron a explotar su herencia, el ms pequeo cogi unas

de las botas que tena su padre, se las puso al gato y ambos se fueron a recorrer el mundo. En elcamino se sentaron a descansar bajo la sombra de un rbol. Mientras el amo dorma, el gato le quituna de las bolsas que tena el amo, la llen de hierba y dej la bolsa abierta. En ese momento seacerc un conejo impresionado por el color verde de esa hierba y se meti dentro de la bolsa. Elgato tir de la cuerda que le rodeaba y el conejo qued atrapado en la bolsa. Se hecho la bolsa acuestas y se dirigi hacia palacio para entregrsela al rey. Vengo de parte de mi amo, el marqusCarrabs, que le manda este obsequio. El rey muy agradecido acept la ofrenda.

Pasaron los das y el gato segua mandndole regalos al rey de parte de su amo. Un da, el reydecidi hacer una fiesta en palacio y el gato con botas se enter de ella y pronto se le ocurri unaidea. "Amo, Amo! S cmo podemos mejorar nuestras vidas. T solo sigue mis instrucciones." Elamo no entenda muy bien lo que el gato le peda, pero no tena nada que perder, as que acept.

"Rpido, Amo! Qutese la ropa y mtase en el ro." Se acercaban carruajes reales, era el rey y suhija. En el momento que se acercaban el gato chill: "Socorro! Socorro! El marqus Carrabs seahoga! Ayuda!". El rey atrado por los chillidos del gato se acerc a ver lo que pasaba. La princesase qued asombrada de la belleza del marqus. Se visti el marqus y se subi a la carroza. El gatocon botas, adelantndose siempre a las cosas, corri a los campos del pueblo y pidi a los delpueblo que dijeran al rey que las campos eran del marqus y as ocurri. Lo nico que le falta a miamo -dijo el gato- es un castillo, as que se acord del castillo del ogro y decidi acercarse a hablarcon l. "Seor Ogro!, me he enterado de los poderes que usted tiene, pero yo no me lo creo as quehe venido a ver si es verdad." El ogro enfurecido de la incredulidad del gato, cogi aire y zs! seconvirti en un feroz len. "Muy bien, -dijo el gato- pero eso era fcil, porque t eres un ogro, casitan grande como un len. Pero, a que no puedes convertirte en algo pequeo? En una mosca, no,mejor en un ratn, puedes? El ogro sopl y se convirti en un pequeo ratn y antes de que se

diera cuenta zs! el gato se abalanz sobre l y se lo comi. En ese instante

sinti pasar las carrozas y sali a la puerta chillando: "Amo, Amo! Vamos, entrad." El rey quedmaravillado de todas las posesiones del marqus y le propuso que se casara con su hija ycompartieran reinos. l acept y desde entonces tanto el gato como el marqus vivieron felices ycomieron perdices.
