TOURIST OFFICES IN GRANADA

TOURISM IN GRANADAIn 2014 2,5 million visitors came to Granada, the best year in our history, beeing one of the most visited cities in Spain the tourism is one of the motors of Granada, to help this, Granada has some tourist offices to inform the tourist.

In this table we can see how the tourism are growing in this two years (Foreign and national tourists, and number of tourist and nights of travel)

OUR OFFICESWe can find in Granada some different offices, they are distributed in different areas of the city and each one is directed by a different organism and distribute and give different information.

Oficina Municipal de Información Turística

The "municipal" office of Granada is directed by the city Hall, distributes local information and announces Granada as unique tourist destination, in this office we can find maps and leaflets of the city the office provides information about events, monuments, accomodation, timetables of local transportation and other interesting information.

Also it must help the tourist in emergency cases.

Punto Municipal de Información Turística

Belonging to the "oficina municipal" we can find this information point in the Alhambra, the office distribute the same information but also speciallized info about the Alhambra.

Punto de Información Turística del Albaicín – Casa de las Chirimías

As the previous information point, this office belongs to the city Hall, and provides information focussed in the Albaicín. Located in the historic " Casa de Las Chirimías" it´s a basic information point in the Albaicin Area.

Oficina turística de la Diputación de Granada

This office is located in the "Colegio de Niñas Nobles" next to the Cathedral, the office distribute information about the city and the province but it´s focused in the entire province as a global destination(map of the province, resources in the province...), we can find others information offices like that in Salobreña and other towns of the province.

Internal StructureTo get the organigram of any tourist office is nt posible.

But in the tourist offices we can find:

● Tourism information manager: who manages the develop of the office, provides the services,manages the staff supervision...

● Tourism information officer: who interact, help and give the informationto the tourist.

Objetives of the office.

Information Office of the Junta de Andalucía.

This tourist office is speciallized in offer Andalucia as a tourist destination, the have information about Granada but the more finded info is about Andalucia. It´s belongs to the network of offices of Andalucia and have the official sign. They provide information about rights and obligations of the visitors.

Classification of Tourist Offices

The tourist offices in Granada can be classified attending to two classifications:

● Organism which belong: Junta de Andalucia ( offices of regional range), Diputación de Granada ( offices of province range)(Turgranada), and Ayuntamiento of Granada( Granada tour) (local range).

● Category: We can find tourist offices (the previous) and tourist information points (Alhambra, Albaicin).

Private Sector Relation

Granada being one of the most visited cities have a big number of private companies that want to take a piece of the cake, to invest in tourism is a good idea for the local businessman. In Granada we can find differents companies of guides, tourist buses, bicicle routes companies, Sierra Nevada routes...

We can not find a economic relation between both sectors but we can find a social relation ( private companies reccomends public resources or offices and vice versa.
