We had the Gadget Van (Ben and Bree) come in and share drones with us yesterday which was a great educational and fun day and gave the students a break from play rehearsals. Students were en- gaged and excited all day, although one of the most engaging times was when Ben spoke about gaming addictions, and the harm that they can have on you. He mentioned to the students 4 key tips for young gamers when they are gaming and I felt it was important to share back these messages to parents. Tip 1: always drink water and eat healthy whilst gaming, tip 2: After you have been gaming exercise, tip 3: get plenty of sleep and rest (without screen time) and tip 4: when you have finished gaming, spend time with people. Ben’s other important message was to have a maximum gaming time of 30 – 40 minutes at once with an ideal time of 20 – 30 minutes. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers that have assisted at the school throughout the year. Having volunteers at the school assisting in the classrooms, helping out behind the scenes and sharing their expertise is something that makes our school a special place and I value these experiences very highly. These volun- teers have all had a positive impact on the education experiences of the students at Towamba School and I cannot thank them enough. Vicki has been incredible creating art works with the K12 class, which families will get to see on a mug at the end of the year. Isaac’s knowl- edge, assistance and dedication with the students in Technology has been ever so valuable. Lucy and Drew have been working away on a back drop this week for the school play which looks amazing. Maggie has come along to the school in term 4 sharing her musical talents on Fridays and producing the music for the school play and carols, and she has been incredible in her time. Finally, even though the Cooper students are not here anymore, it has been great to have Candice come in and choreograph some dance moves with the student for the school play. Thank you to all the talented volunteers that have helped out at the school throughout the year, and I hope to see you all again in 2019. I would also like to thank our wonderful P and C who have helped out around the school throughout the year to make the students of Towamba School learning experience as great as it can be. They do many things throughout the year such as coordinate the Friday lunch- es, maintain certain areas around the school such as oiling the MPR deck, apply for grants, fundraising and help fund some of the excur- sions just name a few. The Ski trip this year would not have been possi- ble without a generous donation from the P&C and the assistance on camp from John and Karen How, so thank you. It was great to recently help the P &C out to spread the softfall that was a result of a grant application by the P&C. The P&C is only a small group of people, who do great things, so thank you. Welcome to the final Principal’s message and final newsletter for the year, where did 2018 go?

We had the Gadget Van (Ben and Bree) come in and share drones with us yesterday which was a great educational and fun day and gave the students a break from play rehearsals. Students were en-gaged and excited all day, although one of the most engaging times was when Ben spoke about gaming addictions, and the harm that they can have on you. School Swimming Lessons A great week with many students really doing their best and learning a lot, including rescue techniques. The certificates that went home on Monday with the students have information on how your student progressed.

The student’s progress will be used to determine the colour wrist-band that they wear for our pool party next Wednesday too.

School concertThis year we are lucky enough to have Ross Mannell doing the filming for us with his extensive range of equipment. Nancy will still be finalising the concert DVD for our departing Year 6 stu-dents and it will be delivered probably in January sometime.

We greatly appreciate Ross coming out to Towamba to do this for us in his own time.

Our dress rehearsal today was a great way of checking whether students all have their gear together. A note is attached if we need to remind you of anything costume-related for your stu-dent.

On concert night, students should arrive in costume with their school uniform in a labelled plastic bag (ready to change into at supper time). Arrival time will be 6 or 6.30 depending on the costume and make up requirements for each character. A sep-arate note will be sent home on Monday with times.

The Gadget Van What a day! Students enjoyed an extremely engaging learning experience thanks to Mr Ben Wells and the Gadget Van.

Scripture Church service Mr Dixon and the Scripture students celebrated the story of Christmas at the Towamba church today. Next year we will be sending home a new note so that all families have the choice for their child to attend Scripture or non Scripture for the remain-der of their time at school. You are welcome to change your choice though at any time.

New Towamba hats All students will receive a new Towamba hat at the start of next year at no cost. We have a new design that should work really well. Please ensure that your child’s name is in the hat.

Old hats will still be kept as spare hats. If your child loses their hat and requires a replacement there will be a fee of $10.

Pool party on WednesdayThank you so much to those returning their forms or letting us know that they will be away that day. We still have some out-standing. Check the reminder box on page 1 to see if we are still waiting on yours.Students should arrive and meet in the pool park at 11am with Towamba & Wyndham students enjoying a pool games and ac-tivities session from 11.30 and then free time and pizza delivered to the pool for lunch! Sure to be a fun and relaxing day to end the school year. Payments need to be finalised before the end of the year.Fiona has offered a lift if anyone needs help with transport.

Hall set up Please come along to the concert prep working bee on Mon-day 17 December from 9.20am. We will be setting up the hall for the concert night - chairs , lectern, trophy table, supper table, raffle table, and organising the kitchen, tea and coffee set up etc. We will also be putting up the Christmas tree (thanks to Peter) and decorating it for the night, and getting the hamper and raffle ready. The more helpers the better!Raffle HamperThe P&C Raffle Hamper will be drawn at the school concert. It would be greatly appreciated if each family could send in something to be added to the hamper. It definitely needs more goodies - something bulky would be even better!Raffle ticketsReturn any sold tickets to school ASAP. Please ensure that all sold tickets are returned before the concert night so we can get the raffle organised. More ticket booklets available if needed. More prizes are coming in all the time from local businesses.Friday lunchesTomorrow is the last Friday at school so instead of the usual lunch orders it is HOTDOG DAY!$2 per hot dog, with optional extras: cheese, onions, mustard & sauce. There are very limited supplies remaining so if you were keen on a pizza or chicken and mushroom pie, these can still be ordered if you wish.Thank you to all of the volunteers this year and to the lunches co-ordinator Karen How.Coast2KosciWonderful news to share! Not wanting the P&C to miss out when the C2K was cancelled- they have been passing the hat around resulting in nearly $1000 being donated to the P&C!

P&C News

Library books Please return all borrowed library books before the end of the year. A report of your student’s loans is attached to the newslet-ter.

Outstanding Payments Please endeavour to finalise all outstanding payments by the end of the school year. Nancy will be in the office until Decem-ber 20th to receipt any overdue payments. Check the reminder box on the front page.

End of Year Assembly On Tuesday a small informal school assembly will be held in the morning to present this term’s Magpie Nests and other awards not presented at the concert evening, as well as returning all the eggs of 2018.

Headlice Please see the attached information as we have been advised by a parent that they have found and treated their child. It’s a common occurrence that needs regular checks.
