Thoughts on the Neighboring Continued
I don’t know about you, but it seems like the spring and summer are
when I realize that other people, in fact, inhabit the homes around me. In
the winter months, it’s cold; people do everything they can to avoid
being outside. Then the warm months come and suddenly my neighbors
exist again! I hope you enjoyed the “Art of Neighboring” series. I hope
that it has caused you to think about your relationships with your
neighbors, what the next step is for your relationship, etc.
My hope is that the end of the series isn’t the end of your relationship
with your neighbors but instead is a launch pad for deeper, more
intentional “neighboring.” I want to encourage you to continue finding
opportunities to spend quality time with your neighbors. I also want to
encourage you that it’s okay if every one of your neighbors isn’t
instantly your best friend. Real relationships take time and they have to
be mutual to be healthy. So the goal should be to find some neighbors
who are as interested in spending time with you as you are with them.
That may take some time to discover but it should become apparent
eventually. And if some people just don’t seem interested in building
relationships, that’s okay too.
The rest of this summer we are going to be walking through Paul’s letter
to the Philippians. I love this letter for a number of reasons but perhaps
the greatest reason is the sheer joy that Paul shares in his relationship
with the Church in Philippi, despite his circumstances. Paul is in prison
in Rome, probably in a dimly lit, dank cell, and yet he is filled with joy.
Only God could help him achieve that. What else could cause someone
to have such joy despite such terrible circumstances? And how can we
be inspired by that example in our own faith where our own
circumstances often push and pull us along the road of life? I hope for
all of us that we might experience that same joy this summer as the Holy
Spirit guides us in our own journeys of faith.
Blessings,
Pastor Stu
My thanks go out to Pastor Stu for his visit and for the many cards and
notes I have received. What a blessing it is to be in
the Tower Church family. Shirley Minshull
I want to thank our church family for the beautiful
red carnations that they brought to us a couple weeks
ago. They brightened our home for many days, in many ways.
We did enjoy our visit with Rev. Stu this past week. We feel so much
better acquainted.
It’s too bad that we miss so much that goes on in the church but John is
home working on getting his strength back.
God bless, Jean Struble
For all of the caring people who attend Tower Church,
Michael and I want to thank you for all of the prayers, calls and many
cards that arrived at home and the hospital. God bless you. We are still
having some health issues, but hopefully these can be corrected. Thank
you, Pastor Stuart, for your hospital visits. How wonderful to have so
many caring people. We thank you and we love you.
Michael and Edna Orange
Thank you for all the beautiful cards and the many prayers during my
surgery and recovery. I am thrilled to be back at church so soon. God is
so good! Lisa Stratton

Free Movie Night - Thursday, 7/7 @ 7 pm in the Chapel
Your Evangelism team invites you another
free Christian movie night; rated PG13 –
bring your family:
COURAGEOUS will capture your heart as you
meet four officers, their friend Javier, and their
families. Protecting the streets is second nature
for these 4 men. Raising their children in a God-
honoring way? That’s courageous. Honor
begins at home.
Four men, one calling. To serve and protect. As law enforcement
officers, each are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day,
they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle:
fatherhood. When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling
with their hopes, their fears, their faith and their fathering. Can a
newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God … and to
their children? Moviegoers will once again find themselves
laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired
by every day heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a
lifelong impact on their children.
Wednesdays In the Park
Starts @ 6pm
- Sharing Our Faith Over Dinner
The Evangelism team is excited to continue the
Wednesdays in the Park gatherings this summer. We will meet
every other Wednesday.
We invite you to bring a neighbor, co-worker and friends and come
have dinner and fellowship with your brothers and sisters.
A sandwich and drinks will be provided (bring a side dish only if you
wish). We hope to see you at 6 pm at the Keystone Shelter at
Memorial Park. Bring a bag chair or a cushion if you wish.
Bring your kids! Children ages 2-12 will have a special activity, just
for them, each “Wednesday in the Park” night after dinner. Please
contact Colleen Strachan at 724-992-4746 if you can volunteer to
help with childcare for this event 1-2 nights this summer. The weeks
of “Wednesday in the Park” are: 6/29, 7/13, 7/27, 8/10 and 8/24.
